The version on Youtube and available on CD, is one in which Flávio Guimarães, a harp player, also of the Brazilian band 'Blues Etílicos' eliminated 2 - 3 verses and added his harp.

I have the original version, longer and without a harp should anyone feel there might be good use for it.

Braúlio also wrote the lyrics for another Repente / Blues called 'Cachaça' (Brazilian moonshine) which was recorded in the studio at the same time.

Putting this idea together, I chose the best lyricist I could think of to develope the theme, Braulio Tavares. Braulio read all available material available concerning Robert Johnson and wrote the lyrics.

For the original studio version, to sing Repente, I chose Sebastião da Silva because of his voice and musical agility. He played a viola, common to Repentistas. For the slide guitar, Otávio Rocha, of the Brazilian blues band 'Blues Etílicos'. Braulio Tavares, also played a Martin guitar.

Story tellers going from village to village bringing news and entertainment, Repentistas, most often working in pairs, each with an acoustic guitar, also go from town to town in Brazil, singing ad hoc about any subject for which they are challenged by the audience. There are over 40 formats of Repente, each obeying a strict rhyming and sybalic chord format.

Clearly this description could and should continue as extremely consice.

Since this song has generated interest, as the Executive Producer, let me give some background.

I found a major similarity in the Blues and Repente, the latter, originally a musical / poetic format, popular in the Iberian Peninsula.

Musical similarity in the disonance and minor chords, but ly. ic similarity in that while Blues appears to have originated in Mali in the form of Girot.
