i love my spider IV... the effects r cool and the distortion is pretty easy to customize. hate the insane preset though they started off with wayy to much bass but overall a good practice amp.
So far I've only discovered one decent tone on my spider 4 75w amp. Can anyone suggest a good crunch tone? I'd like a nice crunch like Keith Richards or Jimi Hendrix. My guitar is Jackson dk2m with 2 x humbuckers. Find it very difficult to get any decent tones.
Most of the haters are probably tube amp company goons. Tube amps are becoming more and more antiquated by the day. Some of the new modeling technology ( ie AxeFx , Line 6 ) can replicate MULTIPLE tube amps very close. The last version of these sucked but the iv's are really good !
EVERY 1 READ THIS! people are saying these amps are shit.well today i got the spider 4. 75 and what ive got to say is this.i think the haters are getting carried away with themselfs.thay forget that most people cant afford fancy amps.the spider 4 line are good amps there easy to afford you may call them cheap.but at the end of the day were ever u play them in ya room. in ya basement or on the stage thay will not let you down an line 6 no this.ITS ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC SO FUCK U HATERS THAY DO ROCK
@sonnyboy1069 dude they arent shit but I've played roland cube's and peavy vyprs and they just can't compete, they aren't bad, but why get it if you can get a peavy vypr or a roland cube for the same price
I have the Spider IV 150. Great tone, especially when paired with a seven-string. Handles the low B really well. I just hope that when I add a Sustainiac to the mix, it doesn't make my amp wanna run scared lol
what they don't tell the customer is that the power amp is fragile... and based on the tda2050 single amp... the tda 2050 2 capacitors and sveral resisters... my 30 spider iv blew and i started looking inside...well to my surpise it was this simple diy type or worse power amp....junk junk junk....
why do line 6 keep talking about tubes ? any guitar player who has ever tried one knows they dont respond like a tube head, who are line 6 trying to kid ?
@theBCRichWarbeast Don't listen to that retard and his tube amp speech....Dimebag got killer tones out of solid state and so do many other metal guitarists....although I would partially agree with him and say throw the line 6 out. Go get a roland Cube 40XL or that Randall Kirk Hammett if you want a good lamb of God tone. You don't need tubes to get a good metal tone.
I've read a lot about Spider 4 amps and I really like them. I have some doubts though. They have a lot of features that I use on my pedalboard, which is a Boss GT-10, like delay, reverb, etc. Are all these features useless if you use a multi effects like mine? I see no point adding delay if my patch already has. Also, the sound I've heard in videos is nice, would an effects processor screw up the native amp sound? In short, would you recommend this amp used with a GT-10? Thanks in advance
@Aristowi if you use the gt-10 alot, then getting the spider amps would pretty much be useless coz u probably won't use the built-in effects anyway. I have a spider 4 75watt amp and i'd say it has some good presets, but i use mainly my boss multi-effects through another amp on clean channel coz the cleans on a line 6 really sucks (my opinion). But if u were to buy a spider, you could put your gt-10 through the "manual" channel. That means it doesn't have any effects at all.
i've got the spider 4 15w. its a great practice amp and i would recomend it to any one looking for a small amp with great tone, though i don't think its great when it comes to doing live gigs...
@IwonYou121 u have 4 channels a b c and d u can buy an fbv channel foot board or manually walk to the amp and press each button seperatly its very easy when u get yousto it
Do not buy any of these!!!! You will be dissapointed! If you really want the best modeling amp, get the Peavey vypyr! And if you really want that pro sounding tone, buy either Peavey vypyr tube 60 or tube 120. I actually prefer Peavey vypyr tube 60 over some expensive tube amps like peavey 6505.
And remember, if this line 6 amp would really sound good it wouldn't have a big convincing commercial like this. The better the amp, the less advertising ;)
honestly i love it....lol i own one and i got it when it first came out...even though i run my DegiTech RP355 it is amazing...but i found that if you dont have the line 6 cab the comes with it, or somethin better obviously, it buzzes my speakers and cutts out....im the kind of guitarist who is eitheir on an epic clean channel or a badass drop c brutal distortion....soooo therefor i just use the presets on my pedal...i do recomend the Spider 4 HD 150 setup...
I bought this and it was pretty good but lately I've been trying to get more distortion and the problem is that this amp has a very bad bass. It just muffles instead of getting a good sound. I've played this in an auditorium at half volume and the amp started to shriek. It was painful. I can tell its the amp because right after that shriek I switched to a mesa. Soooooo much better.
Don't get me wrong, this is a very good amp when playing clean licks but anything Escape the Fate heavy is so so.
@GuitarMan5670 I have to say im getting a 75watt line 6 spider IV for christmas nd i played it in the shop like LOUD on a heavy distortion nd i never had that problem could of been urs was faulty :/ i tried quite a few different settings in the shop and it was BLOODY AMAZING!!!
I have the 150 HD Spider 4 4X12 combo. Its BADASS, everyone has thier own opinion and amps that they love. I was open minded and can tell you this is a great amp to have. It can appeal to every type of music you want to play.
@thegiz2007 Video will do that to sound by compression.I also think that if you toss out the factory speakers with 25 watt Celestion greenbacks the tones and harmonic colors will improve greatly.
@ciadude2 ive heard how it sounds and used the 15 watt version, it aint that bad. but the thing id like to know if the 75 or 100 is good for gigging in a small to medium size venue, like a school auditorium for example
@Forgeth3Bulletz im afraid not =/ if you want a small good amp like the 30 watt you will need the spider jam, or if you are looking just for the normal spider iv you'll have to move up to the 75 watt =/ well worth it though =D
Your videos are brilliant, such great playing. I have already asked about the possibility of using a Line 6 Spider IV 150 head with the Marshall 1912 cabinet, is the Spider IV 150hd compatible? I haven't actually purchased the Line 6 Spider IV head. Do you think I would be better off with the Line 6 147 hd, can you get a foot controller for the Line 6 147 hd, would the Marshall 1912 be better suited with the Line 6 147hd? Please I'm desperate for help, any help greatly appreciated
Do you know whether the direct out jack automatically mutes the internal speaker or not? I'd really like to buy one of these as an all-purpose amp for the stage, and using an emulated out directly into the soundboard, along with the internal power amp for monitoring, would significantly speed up the soundcheck... and I'd get better results, I suppose. But if there's no way to use the headphone out AND the amp at the same time... it's such a waste of possibilities. :(
@saicam910 i would reccomend the 150 combo. a guy in my band uses one and used it in am outside gig an it was plenty loud plus its lighter and cheaper. but you have to get a foot controller.
@zbaby82 Nobody cares. Overly religious much, I mean, It's a fucking amp review, No one cares if he says perfectly. The Line 6 amp company is PERFECT for guitarists who have a wide range of styles. It's easy to find any sound you want on a spider.
@rbcrazyriderrb get the guitar first, thats what i did, other wise you might be disappointed with the amp. I brought a KH-202 kirk hammet sig first goes good with everything.
I want the 75 watt now... I noticed the settings for all the bands and that's awesome. I own the 15 right now and its good but doesn't do my schecter justice.
@dreske3 you should get the spider iv75 it has tons of effects but to play some metal/rock you need to at leas tget a heavy neck or even better cahnge the pickups.
im still deciding if i shuld get a 120 or 75watt for gigs. Does it not matter because you are going to mic it anyways? or the extra watts makes big diffrence?
@stroodle2001 if you hear it in person side by side with a real tube amp, you'll realize that it's so fake that it sounds worse than a real sounding decent solid state amp.
I have a Line 6 Spider 3 amp and it sounds like some of the noise is being crunchier would u guys recommend this amp to me and i play all kinds of music on guitar Metal classic and more
@zer0frk A quick tip for you... I would shell out the extra $100 or so for the 75. I purchased the 75W and was extremely happy with the punch that came with it. My buddy was also happy with it, but went out and bought the 30W to save some cash. We played them side by side with the same settings. The 30 sounded quite "tinny" and the 75 was much, much more beefier. Also, the 30 drops your settings once you turn it off, which is quite annoying! Something is definitely lacking in the 30 vs the 75.
Green Day's Boulevard Of Broken Dreams? You played the last chord wrong.. js :') i so want this amp' though :o

Would you recommend a Spider IV HD150 and a Line 6 Cab or a Spider IV 150 Combo? What would be better for shows and easier on the wallet?
saicam910 1 year ago
@saicam910 i would reccomend the 150 combo. a guy in my band uses one and used it in am outside gig an it was plenty loud plus its lighter and cheaper. but you have to get a foot controller.

@zbaby82 Nobody cares. Overly religious much, I mean, It's a fucking amp review, No one cares if he says perfectly. The Line 6 amp company is PERFECT for guitarists who have a wide range of styles. It's easy to find any sound you want on a spider.

rbcrazyriderrb 1 year ago
@rbcrazyriderrb get the guitar first, thats what i did, other wise you might be disappointed with the amp. I brought a KH-202 kirk hammet sig first goes good with everything.

I want the 75 watt now... I noticed the settings for all the bands and that's awesome. I own the 15 right now and its good but doesn't do my schecter justice.

I'm starting a band w/ some friends. We want to play rock/punk/metal-things. is this amp any good? I got a Fender Squier.
I dunno what to buy, the Spider IV 75 (or <) or the Roland Cube-20x.
dreske3 1 year ago
@dreske3 you should get the spider iv75 it has tons of effects but to play some metal/rock you need to at leas tget a heavy neck or even better cahnge the pickups.
FullmetalFan500 1 year ago
@dreske3 get the 80x cube, they are nice.

I think you'll find that Tech 21 brought out the Sansamp in 1989 which was an amp modeler. I'd say they were the pioneers of amp modeling technology.

im still deciding if i shuld get a 120 or 75watt for gigs. Does it not matter because you are going to mic it anyways? or the extra watts makes big diffrence?

Outstanding ALMOST tube amp
stroodle2001 1 year ago
@stroodle2001 if you hear it in person side by side with a real tube amp, you'll realize that it's so fake that it sounds worse than a real sounding decent solid state amp.

im getting the 30 watt. i have the spider 3 15 watt and its amazing. cant wait to upgrade :D
zer0frk 1 year ago
@zer0frk A quick tip for you... I would shell out the extra $100 or so for the 75. I purchased the 75W and was extremely happy with the punch that came with it. My buddy was also happy with it, but went out and bought the 30W to save some cash. We played them side by side with the same settings. The 30 sounded quite "tinny" and the 75 was much, much more beefier. Also, the 30 drops your settings once you turn it off, which is quite annoying! Something is definitely lacking in the 30 vs the 75.
