hi all,i bought a didge about thwo days ago and have been playing most of the day and learning the breathing technique's.

but i have a large concern,i havent dropped my didge or hit against a wall or anything,but it all ready has two somewhat large crack's.there about five to six inches long and about 1 16th of an inch deep.If even that!

but i was wondering how is this going to effect the sound?

I learned with a straw in a glass of water. Meaning you blow softly into a glass and bubbles happen and you start to recognise the feeling of breath, keeping the bubbles going ofcourse, how to seperate the two, meaning blowing and breathing. Is how i worked out circular breathing. After that like getting your balance on a cycle , you just practise. I can blow for 30 mins well now. Good luck ps our brain has never received this muchoxygen ever.

he breathes like a beginner, no excuses he is not that good, although what he says about the technique is correct. the best way to wrap ur head around the circular breathing concept is to fill ur mouth with water and suirt it out with ur cheeks and breathe in though ur nose at the same time.

OK guys one thing he left out,

Try and restrict your airflow as much as possible without compromising volume.

That means use as little air as possible. as the guy below me says, u need back pressure. Hope it helps. I will post a video response soon.

The reason why some of you are having trouble keeping your didj buzzing while breathing in is to do with the bore(hollow) size inside of the didj. The larger the bore the more air is needed to keep playing. Try looking for something that has a smaller bore while you're learning. A plastic pipe is a great way to start, especially if you live overseas such as the U.S. and haven't any access to a real didgeridoo.

circular breathing isn't just something you pick up in a matter of seconds or days, it takes time and practice to learn how to force yourself to keep breathing out while breathing in through your nose. But I'd say practice with the instrument.
