@MJohnny05 all steam engines (well...except bizarre ones like steam turbine engines) have pistons and cylinders, it's just on engines like thomas the cylinders are between the frames so you can't see them
@hannahgal As I said, he pointed out the obvious, that was my first reaction. It is in the description, and I agree I should've put my point across in a more approprate manner.
@ThomasPercyandToby2 Hannahgal is right. There are a lot of little kids watching this video. You really should not use launguage like that on a video like this. I wouldn't have a problem if it was on a more adult video, but not on a kid's video like this!
@randomstuff1282 I would like to refer you to my reply to her that was an instant reaction and I agreed with her that I should've said something more appropriate. Or did you choose not to read my response?
Anyone else notice how Diesel's fan is just behind his face? How is Diesel letting out smoke in his generator if his face is blocking the ventilation?
And who says Hit knows nothing about Railways? :/ Hit knows plenty about railways; it's just that they can't always incorporate it due to the style of writing to include Morales. A very impressive learning segment; I was quite impressed they went through with showing us Diesel is a Diesel-Electric since a lot probably just think the Diesel is all he needs when infact the Diesel is used to generate the Electricity to make him move; best learning segment ever! :)
@Damocles178 Yep, I agree with you. And I think if there wasn't so much pressure to ram morals down fans' throats, they'd be able to research railways as much as they did with this segment and produce what the Awdrys could: a great story with railway realism and a great moral :). Because, let's face it, there can br morals everywhere and you don't have to told about them as most realise them subconciously :)
@TheBlueE2 Yeah I knew Diesel was a Diesel-Electric but not many would think of Diesel like that and would just assume the Diesel fuel moves him when in fact both Electricity and Diesel come into play; even older viewers can learn from this segment; not just young children:)
If they want to inform kids, then it's gonna have to be a little less stupid sounding. "Look! Thomas is showing us how he works." You mean, you cut the train in half to look at it. Ah well. XD
@startug If they thought THAT was horrific, they should've seen the scene after the real engines were cut up... :P. Thankfully I wasn't, but I just wish there were more steam engines around these days.
I feel like such a retard watching this. Very helpful however!

I used this for my grade 10 assignment...
HoboStudios 2 weeks ago
At least this is alittle more educational then the original series. But, they never go into detail of how Thomas cylinder works.
And wouldn't Diesel be a diesel/electric engine instead of diesel?

lol i used this for my grade 7 project (necer thought a thomas and friends video on my bibleography)
xquickxscopexbeastx 4 weeks ago
so.... the disel train is actually kind of a electric train?
TheNewVideos 1 month ago
@TheNewVideos Sort of, only the motor needs diesel to run rather than just electricity

Totally did not understand how diesel engines work, is this becouse im not a child?

@Dmetrey437 No, it's because a lot of people don't.

I never knew how pistons work

Ever notice how many Thomas trains don't even have pistons?

You coudn't just say 'it says its out of sync in the description'? not enough f's to make your point I guess

No wonder he has bad breath O.o
PokelordEX 7 months ago
@PokelordEX Yeah, I noticed that as well. If the fan can't work that well, it'd certainly explain why Diesel's always full of hot air XD
ThomasPercyandToby2 7 months ago
@ThomasPercyandToby2 Well, it'd seem more better to have the face there instead of a short stubby one on a cab.
Otherwise it'd just look weird.
Whenever I use a Class 20 in Trainz, I run it with the snub nose first, cab behind because of the way Diesel was. lololo.
BhanuHabbo 6 months ago
@PokelordEX on the bright side, free air air conditioning behind the face.

Never knew what the dome did, or how a diesel worked :P Thumbs up to HIT on this, give the series this realism and everyone'll be happy.
Next time they should explain why the engines are fitted with those annoying suspensions though :P

Hell, I didn't know how a Diesel worked :P
