Back when Balls were FUN and the competition was FIERCE! but in the end it was all LOVE! Femme Queens were RESPECTED and if you didn't win at one ball, there was ALWAYS another...and you brought it HARD!
Amazing i love the old ball's ( Paris Is Burning DVD ) has house of ninja and some other ball's in and a docu fro mthe time its getting rare but amazing docu highly recomened x
one thing that i liked about the black balls, everyone was accepted!! the w hite wones were'nt like that. if you were fat, or old, or just didn'[t look like marilyn, bardot. mansfirled, you might as well not show up! his was in 66 im talking about , but i think it's the same now. the blacks are always more accepting, and that's how it should be!
i was going to balls before vogueing!! the best ones were at the aragon ballroom in chicago. i sure wish there was someone who had a vid of that, but it was before cam corders!! maybe an 8mm or super 8??
O I so agree, we've lost so many and with them we've lost so much seeing this brought back alot for me too and though I don't ever frequent the family establishments I still wish they could have the feeling of absolute fun and integrity of those days...yup we've lost alot.
Thank you for sharing this video. Thank you for bringing back an era when creativness ruled the runway! Thank you keeping the memories alive! To all those who have passed away, thank you for paving the future for us and thank you for the sacrafices you made. I, among many others wish that you could be here to carry on so many traditions that are diminishing! I dont know a lot about the Ball scene, I was taught a very important lesson, which is to go after your dreams and be who you are!
I have been coming across freinds from back in the day who have old videos and it really saddens me on alot of levels. 1) the community was so much more creative, giving and family and it's missing now and 2) I've lost so many freinds and when I see them on video's its hard for me not to cry. Thanks for this video!

Where Old School is a Stylo: way of life; which includes style of dressing.
This exceeds that parameters of Old School Stylo sexuality that rejects homosexuality for its adherents but does not condemn it in others.
