  • Palin is the stupidest idiot ever. Hopefully she never again holds an office.

  • Granted that she didn't know what the Bush doctrine was. But what shocked me from her reply was that she didn't even know the difference between a DOCTRINE & a VIEW. In the most dumbest way she says, "His world view". Thank God she didn't make it to 1600 Pensylvania Ave. And I hope and pray she never does. She'll spare the U.S. allot of mysery.

  • Just be honest Palin and say you don't know, Instead of giving all this bologna crap

  • While Charlie Gibson looks disdainfully at Palin, busy HE'S GETTING IT WRONG TOO! There is no debate over the"Bush Doctrine" w/regard to "pre-emptive" war. Pre-emptive war is when a country strikes first, as when an enemy is massed along its borders, poised to attack. It's accepted that every country has a right to strike in such an event. The B-Doctrine controversy concerns "preventive" war, something very different. Gibson, like 99% of the dumb people watching and laughing, is clueless. lol

  • @ScratchTT You said it correct.

  • If she does not then just say so...don't beat arround the BUSH. Don't blow smoke up the peoples ass..which is what she will do, if elected into office.

  • I didnt know what the bush doctrine was. neither dose anyone I know. The bush doctrine is a irrelevant, small bit of legislation that she would not have had to known of the top of her head. Before this interview Im sure Obama or Biden or both would not be able to tell you what it is. What does not knowing this seriously have to do with being a VP, the President is the main political figure. "She should know everything" is an illogical and unsupported argument. Stupid question, not stupid answer.

  • She should know AT THE VERY LEAST the superficial view of it, the the tip of the iceberg, NOT ``his view of the world``

The point was that McCain and palin were following in the footstepts of bush so why in the fucking world wouldn`t she know of it.

It`s alright to say that the average person wouldn`t know the basics or the details of it but she is running for fucking office, you would think that person (obviously not she) would know SOMETHING or have a valid opinion on the subject.

  • this is sooo stupid~!! anyone that is running to be the President or Vice president need to know everything!.. Will you let a Doctor to have surgey on your child knowing he did not finish his studies in medial school?

  • idiocracy. I've always known what the bush doctrine was. And I'm pretty stupid.

  • Even Katie Couric has said there are many interpretations of the Bush Doctrine.

  • And Sarah Palin knew none of them.

  • Charles Krauthammer, Washington Post, Sept 2008, who coined "Bush Doctrine" writes

"Yes, Sarah Palin didn't know what it is. But neither does Charlie Gibson. And at least she didn't pretend to know -- while he looked down his nose and over his glasses with weary disdain... In doing so, he captured perfectly the establishment snobbery and intellectual condescension that has characterized the chattering classes' reaction to {Palin}"

  • ya ok so they say that alot of americans don't know what it was and he says he feels sorry for her but then again not many americans are running for vice pres. of the States

  • This is around the time when everyone was pleasantly relieved to learn what a complete moron Palin really is, and that it'll likely cost them the election.

  • what're you fucking kidding me??? "most people dont know what the bush doctrine is or was" ok she is NOT most people ... she is VP candidate dumb fuck !

  • Tryin to save her ass?? FAILED

  • I didn know that it has an official name called the "bush doctrine" before this, but i do know about the right to preemptive strike idea that bush advocated which caused quite a stir a while back. I guess she would have known better -.-

  • It doesn't really matter if anyone else knows the what the Bush Doctrine is or not. PALIN is the one that is running for VP,not any of us, so she should know.

  • There is no real definition of the bush doctrine you know?

  • Yeah? Well, I saw a vid where regular people were asking about the bush doctrine! How are they gonna ask if they don't know! She should know and she sucks

  • sure there is. The Bush doctrine claims the U.S. has the right to strike against nations that we view as a threat whether or not they have acted.

  • 'We don't normally talk about it in the press.' Can you believe he said that? What a nation of dipshits we are to buy this kind of crap. When the Bush doctrine first broke the news, these same pundits wore it out. Maybe in an attempt to get people to wear down and turn a deaf ear when it actually took more sisnister causes to heart (hint: Iraq.)

  • Well, fuck, the vice presidential candidate should know more about it than 'most people'.

  • @conbar ye sir my point exactly

  • It wasn't the only question that took many tries. It is NOT appropirate to lower the bar because she has no foreign policy experience. The people need to know this and understand it! This is rediculous, most people don't know who their congressmen are either. If it is to be a popularity contest we can just go back to the Spears, Hilton thing!

  • So? I knew what the Bush Doctrine was, and I'm not running for VP. If you're running for VP, you need to know the most important Foreign Policy Decision in 30+ years. This is pathetic that anyone would defend such a moron. If you support McCain because of Palin, you should be shot on spot. Nobody who votes for Palin is smart enough to be alive anymore, do we really want to live in a nation that's dumb enough to vote for this moron?

  • well not really, im actually basing it on watching the interview and have not even seen any media on this besides the content of this video. all i'm saying i gurantee you mccain, biden, even obama would have had a better answer and have a better understanding of the bush doctrine

  • are you kidding me?!!!! this is the most significant change in american foreign policy in over 40 years. anybody involved in the american political system should know what that is especially someone trying to become vice president. is it gonna matter? no the voters she appeals to are white middle class women who dont care about foreign policy and like her stupid lipstick joke. Should she know what it is? Yes is it gonna matter? No

  • You see ... here is the problem. She did answer the question, but you are basing your very strong but limited opinion on what you are hearing from the media ... not on her answer.

  • I'm sorry ... it should have read you are using limited knowledge to bolster what is most likely a very strong unlimited opinion.

  • For God's sake, people, there have been four so-called "Bush doctrines" during the last four years and none of them officially called "the Bush doctrine" so nobody...not even McCain or Obama could know how to address that question correctly and immediately. So leave Palin alone already. Look up the real facts. Obama's not gonna be our president. End of story.

  • Thank God for that. Unfortunately this means that John McPalin will be and that is even more disasterous.

Have you noticed not one of the candidates discusses the constitutionality of his policies? How about the legality?

Just because congress passes a law and the prez signs it... Doesn't make it legal or constitutional.

The Bush doctrine, The only Bush doctrine, is an illegal ideology both internationally and domestically. period. to support it is treason.

  • And yet ... if you listen to her answer .. she answered the question. I don't know how you libs think your way through breakfast. Your attention spans are so short you don't think we remember when you were praising McCain back when he was causing Bush trouble. You say "shame on media" for defending Palin because you are too stupid to realize that the media actually asked the question in the first place and that the media is now making a story out of the least misstep in a tough interview.

  • The Bush Doctrine is the justification for Americas war in Iraq. It "IS" the reason the US was able to invade Iraq. The Iraq war is perhaps the most important faucet of present american politics. It is fundamentally imperative that the VP understand pre-emptive strikes. The Bush Doctrine could lead to war with Iran and Russia. The VP NEEDS To know what the bush doctrine is.

  • She now does.... doesn't she??? She didn't have to know that as governor

  • Every citizen should have known about the Bush doctrine the minute it became public. I did. My kids did. Hell we even went so far as to verify it's legality both domestically and internationally. It isn't but to try to fight it would be political suicide for anyone in Guv that desires their job over nation.

  • most people do not need to know what the Bush Doctrine is but a person who would be VP must...

  • I think I will put a black band over my reading glasses to mourn the death of journalism in America.

  • Shame on American media

  • This lady is a joke and everyone is too scared to say it! Of course, that would be considered SEXISM, according to "McSAME and PLAIN".

  • If McCain wins, there is no reason to celebrate the passing of Bush in the White House. If you look at McCain in the mirror, you'll notice the reflection of Bush with his stupid grin.

  • Picking Mrs. Palin for VP is very telling of the way MR. McCain plans to run the Country. with out any forthought, he will take big risks with no asurrance of the outcome, and hope for the best. I Pray if McCain is elected, he stays healthy till 2013. or "it's the end of the World as we know it"

  • I like Senator McCain and Gov. Palin. They seem like good people. So, I'm voting for them. Plain and simple.

All the liberal gotchas and smearing won't change that, because they aren't founded on truth. EVIDENCE would change my mind. Not distortions.

  • Governor Palin would be a much better President than Obama. For some reason I just want to punch him in his socialist face whenever I hear him speak. Just look at the people he associates with, radicals..

  • I hate to point this out. But you have no idea what a socialist is. Please stop speaking. One more thing, my idea of 'radical' would be starting a war to get back at a guy that used to hate my dad and so that i could play master and commander and land on an airforce carrier. Maybe we should have gotten G.W. a box of play soldiers instead. That would have saved us a few trillion dollars.

  • Come to think of it, as long as people can vote for president, they will always vote for someone who makes them feel good. A smart and knowledgeable candidate makes people feel inferior, and that's not good, so they'll never elect someone like that.

We all like to feel good and smart. So I guess the ideal candidate would be a brain-dead idiot. He would make the entire nation feel "smarter than the President". (Now GWB has a strong competition in this area.)

  • The meaning of presidential campaigns used to be to PROVE that a candidate is CAPABLE of leading the country (meaning that he/she is one of the wisest and most knowlegeable people in the country).

But now a candidate has to prove that he is an AVERAGE person who just REALLY WANTS to lead the country?

    That's some great logic:

    - AVERAGE,clueless = "common person" = GOOD

    - SMART,educated = "better than the rest" = BAD

Did Phelps win 8 gold medals for being the most AVERAGE swimmer of all times?

  • So when your doctor tells you that he doesn't know what Gynecomastia (enlarged male breasts) is even tho he is a doctor, it's perfectly fine because you don't know it too. Or when a stock broker tells you that he doesn't know what an IPO is, it's perfectly fine cuz you don't what it is either? Give me a break this lady is running for VICE PRESIDENT, not are you smarter than a 5th grader. These are critical issues that a President must know when making critical decisions

  • 'The Bush Doctrine' has been used in numerous news pieces and books. Look it up on Wikipedia or youtube bush doctrine and you will see videos discussing the Bush Doctrine that are years old. So there is such a thing as 'The Bush Doctrine' and it has been widely used. I know that John McCain and Barack Obama would know what the 'Bush Doctrine' is. And I would expect a president of the United States to know it too because that is a sign that they have read up on the war and its aftermath.

  • The Bush Doctrine, first of all is not a "widely used" term as you put it. Also it is not like the Monroe Doctrine, that is one definitive statement. You look it up on the internet and there are several different definitions. I don't think Obama would know what it is either, not that I can prove it now since everybody is claiming it's common knowledge. But then again why am I comparing a Presidential candidate with a vice-presidential candidate?

  • I said it has been used in numerous news pieces and books on the war in iraq. Which it has, had she been reading books on iraq she would know what it is. But then again like Bush she probably doesnt believe in reading. But what this pick is really about, is the fact the John McCain's first cabinant pick was a staight from Neoconservative Bill Krystal and Karl Rove. So if you do vote for McCain dont at all be suprised if you see a lot of the same faces come january in the cabinent.

  • I expect that the captain will be at the helm, and that there will be a co-pilot. I do not expect that the co-pilot will be as experienced and knowledgable as the captain.

Palin is in the correct position. Obama should be Biden's VP. It's both laughable and insulting that he is at the top of the ticket.

  • there may be several verions of the "Bush Doctrine", but non of them are defined as, and I quote, "his world view". No thanks on George W. Palin

  • Hey Palin. The Bush Doctrine is the reason that you just sent your son off to war 7 years to the day after the attacks of 911 which had absolutely nothing to do with Iraq. I believe the the Bush Doctrine should be redefined as a completely unjustified war really. But I also believe that any mom of a soldier, much less a state Governor(AK National Guard Commander)much less a potential Vp or President should know what it is. I'm carpenter in Rural maine and i knew. No thanks on George W. Palin

  • these people are, in effect, burning books with their flippancy and dismissive attitudes.

  • amazing.. but the President and Vice President ARE SUPPOSED to know foreign policy 101.

If you're boarding an airplane, do you want a pilot at the helm or someone just like you who's trying to learn?

  • You're all so funny. Have you all forgotten that Nobama only recently figured out that Russia was a member of the UN?

OK, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and we'll just say that he for got that Russia had Veto power. Well, maybe he just forgot what that means...well, keep trying Nobama. And Nobama wants to be VP? Oh that's right, he's running for President. It's easy to forget. Good luck on that, Barry.

  • "Most people don't know what the Bush Doctrine was or is."

Most people aren't running for Vice-Presidency of the United States of America.

  • It doesn't matter if the ordinary person doesn't know what it is. Doesn't it make you question what else in international relations doesn't she know?

To be vice president isn't for the ordinary person..to paraphrase Jon Stewart..Don't be like us...be BETTER than us. No excuses.

  • Granted, many ordinary people don't know what the Bush Doctrine is. But Palin isn't seeking an ordinary office. God forbid we require any intelligence from our elected officials.

  • Obviously she had no clue. If a candidate for VP hasn't a clue what the lunatic policy regarding preemptive war and the rest of the regressive failed Dumbya Doctrine then that person shouldn't be a dog catcher of some tiny town let alone VP! She is pathetic and the GOP goons are trying everything possible to keep this simpleton away from any hard questions.

Palin should never be in the White House.

  • This is the same old garbage from the regressive corporate media. If Obama hadn't known what the Dumbya Docrine was the media would be buzzing with slander. This is nothing but the same old Rovian double standard, smear the crap out of the opponent and then cry foul play when their candidate fouls up or is totally ignorant like Palin.

Is hate radio going full bore after Obama?

And at the same time say one word about Palin and you're sexist, vulgar and unfair! Hypocrites!

  • That is something McCain thinks about while banging Cindy and the truth is she should know since she is (R) and running to take on Bushs White House and for her not to know says everything about her. No way, no how, no McPalin!!!!

  • "Most people don't know what the Bush Doctrine was or is."

Most people aren't running for VP.

  • it was a good interview but charlie gave a tough interview..you dont see obama on any tough interviews unless they are talkin about basketball or how much bush sucks...haha

    mccain/palin 08

  • You can't be serious? "You don't see Obama on any tough interviews." Really?! Give it up please. She embarrassed herself and you just made yourself look clueless.

  • WTF?

Bill O'Reilly wasn't exactly talking "baseball" with Sen. Obama, was he?

    FAIL

    try again

  • I want to know what her doctrine would be! Yes it matters, the last thing we need is a repeat.Doctrine is a word that stands for...? she should have been able to put it toguether. This is a clear sign that shes being coached I dont like that, this country is smart and I dont like to be lied to.

  • Palin's lack of experience showed plainly on the Doctirne question.

When she hears ANY question, and doesn't really quite know what's being asked, do you think she ought to simply give "something" as a response, or would it be better to ask for the question to be rephrased or more specific.

Well Palin tried that too, but wasn't able to get the focused question she needed to formulate a proper answer.

  • When she hears ANY question, and doesn't really quite know what's being asked, do you think she ought to simply give "something" as a response

Yeah, like I haven't a clue what the Dumbya Doctrine is because she clearly didn't.

  • I'm saying she CHOSE to say "something, as opposed to being smart and asking Charlie to rephrase his question.

Dubya's doctrine is common knowledge, much like the "Clinton Doctrine" is common knowledge, to those who are iaware of world politics, like Palin claims to be.

If Charlie had asked McCain that question, we would have heard a clear understanding, for sure.

  • Charlie Gibson didn't ask Missourians over cornflakes, nor did he ask a pundit in the "middle of the night".

Gigson asked a reasonable question about the policy that Bush authored in order to JUSTIFIED THE GULF WAR of the woman who would occupy the Office of Vice President of the United States while OUR NATION IS STILL ENGAGED IN THAT WAR!

    This wasn't a POP QUIZ!

  • Great point. Thanks.
