A man stopped his car at the roundabout, got out to take photos (a nice man who spoke to us). Although he should not have parked his car there, within 1 minute...4 police cars arrived, including armed detectives. They would not let him back in his car, arrested him and towed his car away on a truck after 15mins, causing more disruption than the original disruption. Gardai are Brain-dead

Interesting outcome from London's student protest today when Conservative Party HQ at Millbank Tower was vandalised. Vast majority of protest was peaceful and even when the Tactical Support Group showed up there wasn't indiscriminate batoning of people.
Every protest is unique and the tactical picture is dynamic. Correct use-of-force requires cool judgement and a constant assessment of the threat spectrum. Every act of police force must be justifiable as a separate act under law.

I was born in Ireland so it is, but tell me why should it be free. It cost money to hire teachers administratiors etc so why should it be free.
Ireland is in the mess its in not because of the TDs and the Goverment but because of the collective attitude of the begruding Irish.
Thats why it will take so long to recover.
All well and good keeping your tuition at 1k a year but there wont be any jobs when they graduate and leaving the country is out.

Check out this for clear elevated footage of the Gardai using illegal batoning. Every single baton strike is a separate act that must be justifiable, reasonable and proportionate in response to a clear and immediate threat. Otherwise it is assault under the Non-Fatal Offences Against The Person Act 1997 and an "abuse of authority" "using unnecessary violence" under the Garda Siochana Act 2005.

Firstly...WE HAVE A RIGHT TO PROTEST! Ireland is turning into something which I am no longer proud of, it's turning into something unlike Ireland and I am really sorry to say that I think soon enough it will no longer be Ireland! I used to see scenes like this in other countries on t.v. I would think to myself..thank god i'm not there, I cant believe that this is in Dublin! FUCKING DIRTY PIGS!!!!

It's hard to take some students seriously when they cry into cameras about not having money while wearing Abercrombie hoodies and Hillfiger jeans. That said, there are some who struggle financially through college and will find it difficult to get by if fees increase to what they propose. It seems they students who will be affected the least by this are crying the loudest!
Based on the footage I've seen it does look like a number of Gards got a little carried away with themselves tho.
