Well the Boss 302 is $40,000 and the Camaro SS is $33,000 meanwhile the mustang GT is $28,000 I believe? So the fact that the GT still beats the SS is kind of a big deal.
IMHO the race was biased,you have a 444 horse 6 speed against a 400 horse automatic.They could have at least made it some what fair and brought a 426 horse 6 speed for comparison.The mustang would have still won but at least it would have been a decent compairison to see what would happen.
Is more of a sporty, fun car you can take to the track. The camaro is more of a touring sports car. The ride is better, the interior is more luxurious, and I think it's less aggressive facia makes it more of a "handsome" car. In that way the mustang is more of a toy, and the camaro more of a daily driver with a strong kick to it.

I do agree a gt vs an SS would be a better race because the boss 302 is more of a special edition, but the result would still be the same. the camaro needs a better driver, i raced a 5.0 in my 01 ss and only mods that i have is exhaust(not full) airbox lid and hurst shifter and the 5.0 beat me by half car bc i was spinning throught 2nd. And for all the ford fans not to forget that the 5.0 was a gm motor that came out in the 67 camaro, and ford was suied by gm for the theift of the design. so its a ford running a chevy engine.

They're built for two different types of driving; the Mustang has always been more of the drag racer while the Camaro has always been the high-speed cruiser. Both cars are the masters of their given race type: Mustang (Drag)...Camaro(Sprint/Circuit).
If you look closely the Camaro was an automatic which has 400hp not 427 like the manual. The Camaro is heavier at over 3800 lbs and the engine has not changed since 2010. The Mustang Boss 302 is 444 hp weighs at least 3600 lbs. It is strange they did not race a 2012 Camaro SS and a 2012 Mustang GT both manual transmission. We all have see that before. This was about as one sided as racing a 2012 Mustang V6 against a old Nissan 350z.

Is more of a sporty, fun car you can take to the track. The camaro is more of a touring sports car. The ride is better, the interior is more luxurious, and I think it's less aggressive facia makes it more of a "handsome" car. In that way the mustang is more of a toy, and the camaro more of a daily driver with a strong kick to it.

Battle of the fanboys... No surprise there. Each car is great in its own right. I do agree a gt vs an SS would be a better race because the boss 302 is more of a special edition, but the result would still be the same. I think flat out a stock 5.0 gt would still (but by far less than a 302) beat the camaro. That being said the video was fairly bias towards the ford.

the camaro needs a better driver, i raced a 5.0 in my 01 ss and only mods that i have is exhaust(not full) airbox lid and hurst shifter and the 5.0 beat me by half car bc i was spinning throught 2nd. And for all the ford fans not to forget that the 5.0 was a gm motor that came out in the 67 camaro, and ford was suied by gm for the theift of the design. so its a ford running a chevy engine.

I agree with Safedrunkdriving's comment. Chevy needs an IROC Z with the Z06 motor to compete with the Boss 302. That would be cool. The ZL1 will never catch the 2013 Shelby in a straight line, GM refuses to give the Camaro or any other GM car more power than the Corvette.

I don't understand why people keep dragging these two cars. They're built for two different types of driving; the Mustang has always been more of the drag racer while the Camaro has always been the high-speed cruiser. Both cars are the masters of their given race type: Mustang (Drag)...Camaro(Sprint/Circuit).

If you look closely the Camaro was an automatic which has 400hp not 427 like the manual. The Camaro is heavier at over 3800 lbs and the engine has not changed since 2010. The Mustang Boss 302 is 444 hp weighs at least 3600 lbs. It is strange they did not race a 2012 Camaro SS and a 2012 Mustang GT both manual transmission. We all have see that before. This was about as one sided as racing a 2012 Mustang V6 against a old Nissan 350z.

@MrNillaB The ZL1 and the Boss 302 are not an apples to apples comparison......don't be foolish. The Boss is naturally aspirated as is the SS and the SS got stomped. The 2013 Shelby will probably destroy the ZL1 and a Boss 302 with a supercharger would absolutely walk on the Zl1, not to mention from what I've been reading the ZL1 does not appear to be a very modifiable car because of all the technology involved.
