  • Genesis: The True Story.

God created man, then before too long realised that we was a reet coont, so his next gig was creating organised religion to slap his ass down.

The next few thousand years the religion kept man out of trouble by fuelling constant war, torture, enslavement of the masses and generalfun & hi-jinks of the sort.

Realising a slight flaw in the religion being managed by Man himself, he acted swiftly & smote some YouTube & iPad upon the world & loads of porn, & there was peace

  • the bible contradicts itself many times over. Aside from that, It has been edited and reworked many times over with the specific intentions of controlling society so that then monarchs could acomplish what they wanted, wich they did and I'm not entirly favorable towards it.

  • Think of the story of Solomon, where God is so pleased he's asked for wisdom.

Btw, labor = pain is a mistranslation. The word they translate pain in Genesis is used elsewhere in the Bible where its translated "work". Fear of childbirth has caused no end of grief to the human race. Grantly Dick-Read for more info.

  • Hey, wasn't this guy in the movie "The Lord of the Rings". I could have sworn I saw him in one of the scenes from the first movie when they are in Rivendell. Please do say hello to Legolas!

  • Unfortunately, no, but i am an out-of-work actor (like pretty much everyone else in the world).

  • So you are saying you are not part of the Elf race?

  • I was thinking about this earlier today. Funny I found this vid.

Yeah, ignorance isn't bliss, it only gives the ones with power lee way.

  • with knowledge and practice comes wisdom....

  • Have you ever heard Terrence McKenna's interpretation of the Genesis myth?

  • godspeed

  • Hmm. I think Original Sin is so Christ's redemption can be (potentially) universal - even though Revelations seems to imply that only 144,000 get to be Saved - as well as to make truly innocent peasants feel shitty about themselves & tithe.

We weren't "innocent" back when we were being cannibals, we were very nasty.

  • Hey there...

I watched your video and it automatically reminded me of another clip I saw months ago. I hope u don't mind, it's short. (I noticed my comment gets blocked if I put the entire address, so please add this after youtube dot com):

  • The story of Adam and Eve is very similar in Quran, but there are little differences. I would just want to point out that in Islam, people are regarded as innocent by birth until that person consciously commit a sin. There's no transformation of one person's sin on the other.

Anyway, hope u had a good time visiting with family ~_^

    Peace.

  • hell yeah!

  • The god of the old testament was a vengeful killer.

The god of the new testament was a nurturer and lover.

The garden of eden story is one of the reasons a lot of people consider the bible largely allegorical. I tend to view the story from the viewpoint innocence, rather than ignorance, is bliss.

Re: the mysoginy of the bible. The king james version is a very selective collection of the christian/jesus lore which is pointedly mysoginistic and paternalistic.

  • I am not sure if I am playing gods or devils advocate here but when this was written few people were literate and it does not surprise me that these stories were intended to be easily remembered and retold as easily remembered stories.

  • You underestimate the power of the spoken word. Many civilizations had not written language and their entire histories and lores and mythologies were passed on verbally. The King James, the bible of the western world is a document of Catholic dogma. A deliberate collection of writings with a political-religious viewpoint.

  • Yes I know that.

  • well said.

  • dude cant you have hold this back till after christmas?

  • I suppose i could have, but why would it have been better on the 26th than the 24th? Merry christmas!

  • Interesting. From the story that you just read, the theme pretty much seems to be ignorance and servitude are bliss.

  • Too long gone, dear friend. Glad to see you post again and share your unique "knowledge".

Any 'true' God would not punish us all for curiosity...

You have to see that the Bible, created by man, is biased. The elites would prefer us all to be ignorant, and in that, they exalt it.

If God has a testament, it is in the lives of those he has created. It exists bound in flesh, and memories, and deeds.

  • It's obvious, to me at least, that if there is a God, it wanted us to figure things out for ourselves rather than be told by it, and that implies curiosity itsself could easily be the holiest part of our psyche.

  • I've always viewed it as one of the most valuable and most dangerous assets a being could have.

I think the holy G wants us to be curious and wise. A tough mix with only a few decades to get it right.

Happy Holidays, you. I'm glad you hadn't left yet.

  • Modern science has often fallen prey to the desire for knowledge over sanity. For instance, i recently saw a report in which scientists implant control devices in rat brains so that they can literally remote-contol a living creature. Obviously, this shouldn't be allowed, but, at the same time, stem cell research which has a moral and practical purpose is being combatted. Curiosity and wisdom is a hard mixture to perfect.

Happy holidays to you and your offspring.

  • Amazing post, thank you so much, couldnt have come at a better moment. Peace2U x

  • I can't remember where but I heard once that the christian interpritation of Genesis, and the first five books of the bible, is horribly wrong. It may actually be talking of Astrological events like the Egyptian, Roman and Greek myths do. It's really unfortunate if this is the case because it would mean that the social and family structure of generations has been based on a misinterpritation. I totally agree with you though that the current interpritation of Eden is pretty pathetic.

  • As an agnostic, i consider all of the religious texts to contain mostly mythology. The folley, in my view, is not inaccurate texts, but the audacity to believe that every single word within them is factual truth. Study of the Bible, Qu'ran, Greek mythologies, Zorastrianism, Gnosticism, Kabbalah, and the rest is positive, they represent the compiled knowledges that helped forge society, but belief in any one without question is a recipe for war, and mayhem.

  • I'm agnostic as well but wonder how a person who subscribes to religion can take the view that the words within their "sacred" texts can be anything but the factual truth. I see that casual believers are better for maintaining the peace but it seems that they eventually lead to the death of their religion.

  • Bout time you posted again!

Do you think God was jealous, or do you think King James liked to change things up?

  • I know...i go through spouts of total introversion where i'll participate in comment wars, but won't show my face or chat with anyone...i'm a weirdo.

It's absolutely impossible for the words of the Bible to not have been altered over time (whether intentionally or not), but, if it gives you any comfort, i use Oxford Annotated not King James. God has to be jealous, it is supposedly the only one of its kind, and we're surrounded by those who understand us.

  • You are wise beyond your years. Hope you have the happiest of holidays, Peace.

  • The more knowledge i accumulate, the more i understand how ignorant i truly am. Happy days to you, as well, peace and pieces.

  • If you think about it, you know, it does hold true to a degree. The animals of lesser knowledge are far more at one with nature than we. We learned to communicate, to want(not just need) and the smarter we have become the more difficult our lives.

  • Our responsibilities to others around us, our lack of humanity at times, our self destructive abilities all of this growing with our knowledge.

In a sense we can be corrupted by knowledge and we often use it in ways that hurt each other. We need to hold ourselves accountable and be responsible with it.

I don't believe in the bible but I can see the purpose behind the myth.

  • Two sayings come to mind: Knowledge is power, and power corrupts. We have, indeed, corrupted everything we've touched, but i enjoy being the only species that can share complex ideas; there must be ingenious rabbits that think up creative theories they can't carry to fruition without help, so, in lack of communication, they will never outfox the fox, or farm their own vegetables. I think, For the few enlightened humans, it's worth bearing with the apes.

  • Yes I would never say we should give up our knowledge, just hone our minds to remember to stop and commune with one another peacefully, despite our differences.
