  • kinda fail... but not epic fail....

  • @drago45238 I agree! This was a verrrry long time ago haha. Now i have most Tool songs figured out! Thank you for the comment and the view!!!

  • dude...that was weak...and i think your kit is too good for you...

  • @MrBcoreywest This, coming from a douche bag that doesnt even have a single video posted. tell ya what fuckbag, you post a video of you doing a better job, and THEN you can talk all the shit you want. Till then, youre just a 41 year old child with too much time on his hands. asshole. fuck off and die.

  • nice drum kit bro

  • The groove is wrong, as it is in every cover so you can hardly be at fault. Sounds like an easy song, and is often considered such, but if you listen closely, the hi-hat pattern during the main groove is always two hits followed by the sustained bark. When he doubles up on the bass drum, he doesnt play through it, he maintains the same pattern. But other than that, solid playing.

  • @JNolan1993 Thanks man! Yeah, I knew that this was wrong, but his is also a really long time ago haha. Now, I have it figured out :) Your description is really good concerning the groove! Rock on dude

  • @hewooo12301 Sick man :) And thanks, but its odd when you watch him play it live; seems like he is doing something totally different, yet it still sounds the same.

  • @JNolan1993 I agree dude! Danny Carey is nuts. But tere are sooo many good drummers out there. Gavin Harrison and Benny Greb, and Dom Famularo :)

  • nice cover dude

  • Great work man sounded awsome

  • great job! we need a drummer, get in contact with me and we can do some songs over the web, bass player and guitarist as well as vocalist here

  • That solar cymbal needs to go to value village for the less fortunate.

  • @BIGREDDOG09 haha I agree! And they are now out of my hands!

  • Creamed myself when you did that fill,or did i shit myself?i dunno

  • nice snare :)

  • its nice to see someone who can alteast make this song sound like sober. dont listen to anyone who puts you down, you did a really good job. even if others can play this song perfect, so what, theyre good at copying someone, not something to be proud of. keep it up

  • @DougFnDrake Thanks man! (This was an awfull long time ago haha) but thank you very much! And I take any kind of criticism for constructing myself on how I look at my drumming. Thank you very much!!!!!! Take a look at some other videos!

  • @hewooo12301 well i have been playing for almoth 15 years now, and you can tell the people who have it, and the people who wish they had it, and you fall in the first group. if i could give you advice, it would be to play the way you want to play. when doing covers, you obviously have to play it their way, but make it yours. but i can see you have it under control, so dont let anyone get you down.

  • all of you faggots need to stop hating on this kid, he fucking did fine on the song.. it was pretty good. fuck the hater's bro

  • @bobo123a

    LMFAO

@video.. yea... u screwed the intro to hell

  • Damm

Really good time bit, but you have to practice more your speed.

  • wow and u look like a retard wen you start rocking out around @2:55

  • insteadof getting a ton of crappy cymbals, buy a few good cymbals, like hats, ride, and main crash

  • fail intro lawl try harder..

  • Wow you look like me two years ago! xD And i'm adrummer too! Anyway, great cover...And sorry for my english but i'm italian ;)

  • you're ugly.

  • thats one weird ass kit

  • wow, this is easier than i thought! good cover

  • ha ha you have solar cymbals? the hi-hats suck! dude I would move on from B8's and get Paise PST5's or Meinl MCS. you are WAY too good for the kit you have. the snare sounds good... but seriously get a Pearl Export or something.

  • i agree with bobscore35

  • i think your a bit too good for your kit

  • @bobscore35 i agreee... your cymbals need to go.

  • super nice cover man! loved how you incorporated the cowbells and granite block in the bridge. i have some Sabian Solars too... what do you think of yours?

  • It's funny, because for the longest time, I had so much trouble with the multiple rhythms and patterns of this song, you know, the hi-hat pattern and then everything else. Then I watched this video and afterwards went to my drum set to try it out because this guy looked so nonchalant playing it, and I did it! It was so weird because all of a sudden it all just came naturally for me. That's honestly the best feeling as a drummer.

  • YEAH!

  • Same thing happened to me. I couldn't get the hi-hat and bass together correctly for the verses, but I watched a video and got it down easily.

  • It says something about us; we're visual learners, you and I. Now, maybe I should watch Terry Bozzio play the Black Page...

  • Yeah. Most drummers I know are like that too. Both of my uncles were in local bands and they never learned how. They would watch and do. That's exactly what every other drummer I know does too. It wouldn't hurt to learn notes and stuff, but I think it's not necessary. The only thing I have trouble with is speed. I was unable to play drums for almost a month, and when I went back, I literally lost almost all the speed I had with my wrists and feet.

  • Well, you know, John Bonham didn't read music, either. Never had a lesson in his life. That's what keeps me going. It's all about the inner groove.

  • @PoeticJustice05 i wish i felt like that,i cant get this fucking song down,i think i can do the verse,and the chorus,allrightish,but the fills n shit,fuck

  • I won't say a word about the HH's. Cause everyone else has that covered.

But, keep your emotions in check. Every once in a while you seem to get all excited for one reason or another and your timing goes off as well. Relax.

    Good job. Keep it working.

  • its called a poly rythym,

the hit hats are in 3/4 time

the bass and snare are in 4/4 time

    with a half time feel

  • it's like this: xxO xxO xxO xxO with x being closed and O being open. pretty simple, the tricky part is throwing the rest in. also if you're good, you can slightly open the middle of every triplet to get i really good sound. sort of like : Chick, Chizz, Sizz!

  • ooX ooX ooX

  • Nice job bro. How much was your drum set. I want to get one but I'm afraid my dog will chew it up. The bitch chews all of my stuff so why not the drums as well huh. Keep it up man.

  • Okay I dont see how this goes but I want to know. Is it

    H=HiHat OH=OpenHiHat

    1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4

    HHHOH HHHOH

    That sounds like it

  • ooX ooX ooX ooX the o is for closed hits and then

    open hits

x x x x this is the bass drum which you hit on every first accent of the closed hits

  • Fricken awesome man

  • Guys, guys, guys... It's eighth notes with a thirty second note mixed in. It's counted 1 e and, 2 e and, 3 e and, 4 e and. The "ands" of the notes or the offbeats are open hihat notes. I hope that explains what you were all arguing about.

  • You play it great i still can't play those silly tripple's =( good luck ;-)

  • I like it man! I commend anyone that can play a TOOL song decently on the drums. I like how you get into it...some drummers kinda look bored when they play.

  • It doesn't look like your doing the triplets on the high-hat correctly. I know it's a little trick, I got it down in an hour. This is probably the easiest Tool song on drums.

  • its not triplets, just 2 sixteenth notes with an open eight. just saying.

  • actually it is triplets. how do expect to get the noise on the open eight without hitting it?

  • what sound on the open eight? and since when do triplets make extra noises when you hit them? the song doesn't swing at all. its straight forward. next your gonna say the bass drum is playing triplets. if you were to write it out, then you would see that triplets aren't even close to what it sounds like.

  • on the first set of triplets( im not sure of the terminology if you know what i mean) there are 3 high hat hits. 2 on the closed high hat with the bass hit on each then another hit without a bass hit but the open hihat. thats what i mean you condescending faggot.

  • Yes. im a condescending faggot. im just trying to say that a triplet is not three notes in a row, but it is its own musical styling. if that sorta makes sense.

  • No it does not make sense.

  • Just trust me on this. ive been a musician for 7 years (saxophone guitar drums piano) and i know what im talking about.

  • I dont give a fuck how long youve been a musician. Ive been playing drums for 12 years but i really dont that matters. You cant explain your reasoning so you just resort to telling me how long youve played music. Well done buddy.

  • i cant explain my reasoning to ingorant dipshits like your self. if you have been playing drums for 12 years and you have never encountered an actual triplet then you must jam to miley cyrus. i mean seriously. look up a triplet paradiddle or something. or just a triplet on youtube. and for christ's sake stop showing off your unabridged idiocracy.

  • TRIPLET = 3 NOTES DUMBASS

  • Oh my Petrucci. "A group of three notes to be performed in the time of two ordinary notes of the same kind." there you go. that is the definition out of the goddamn dictionary. if you want to try and refute that then take it up with webster, not me. as Squiresuzuki pointed out, it's not two sixteen and an eight, rather two eight and a quarter. my bad. so please, you hardheaded motherfucker, tell me how two 8ths and a quarter are supposed to be played in the space of two 8th notes. im waiting.

  • not really, a triplet could be considered 2 notes between quarter notes. or 2 notes between a quarter note and an eight note. so its basically two notes that make it the triplet.

  • It's not...even though it's 3 notes in a row. It's actually 2 eighths, and then a quartter.

  • im not saying that its 3 eighths. i just said open 8th cuz i forgot the terminology. this guy is saying its only 2 notes

  • metallica four horcemen has tripets on double bass 3 notes.

  • your snare is kick-ass man!

  • good to see that im not the only one going for the hi hat at 3:59 haha

  • yeah man i had that solar cymbal pack, this video actually makes it sound better than they did, complete garbage, rockin the 15" new beats now, and a Z custom 19" medium crash as my ride, good cover but you should invest in some quality bronze

  • great stuff man ^^ I like your breaks ;) good work

  • is it supposed to be eighth notes on the ride?because thats how i play it.

  • its supposed to be triplets

  • thanks man

  • Yea, its the easy way to do it. It took me like 2 days to get this song down. That groove is tricky doing triplets of the highhat

  • very very nice cover!

  • awesomeeeee

  • Excellent, ending "I want what I want" is a hard piece to follow. Props.

  • very good!!!!...

  • dude. your the man. this is great

  • Nice playing! 5 stars, but you have an awkward looking kit.

  • he needs to set his cymbols differently thats for sure the toms look fairly well set up .

  • maybe thats just how he rlls dude.i play with my china between my right crash and my ride. but thats just how i'm comfortable playing and it helps me flow more with my kit and thats what this guy is doing

  • hey pls play aerials by SOAD one time if u like to!...

  • awesome

  • So thats how the high hats go during the verse.............. Thanks!

  • what type of hi-hat?

  • its a solar by sabian u dont really want it beleive me

  • Well, I couldnt put them together because of the cow bell and wood block that was there, and the toms hit the bass drum. But I just had gotten used to it i guess haha.

But Now, I have a new drumset! :D Check out my other covers and drum solos to see it!

And YES. Dannys stuff is without a doubt, Amazing.

  • Why are your toms so wide? Personal choice, just a little different.

Also, good cover, but Dannys stuff now is ridiculous, I can play some of the stuff from opiate and undertow, but lateralus and 10,000 days i cant keep up :P

  • excellent!

  • Finally, an accurate cover of this song! Great job man. 5 stars.

  • Not meaning to advertise anyone account, but if you want to see wicked covers of tool songs

    Check out Tbartels007

  • Very good :)

  • Thanks!

  • Very good...one of the best one's I've heard on here.

And thanks for having some Sabian B8 cymbals...was looking into them and wanted to see what they sound like.

  • clean.........

  • awesome job man, keep it up

  • i dont kno how you got that begging down thats the only part that gets me good job

  • haha! it is a tricky one, but you will get it down!

  • trying to learn this song too...that high hat part is a bitch! good job man.

  • you're freakin awesome dude...!

    good dRummER>...!:D

  • very nice dude :) and very tight even though this groove is weird ...

  • Thank you!

  • ya, they arent that great haha. Thanks!

  • huh, I head the sabian B8 cymbals sounded like shit.....but yours arent half bad. Great cover BTW!

  • i have a crash, splash, and ride, all sabian B8, and i think that they sound pretty good.

  • IDK like I said most are ok but I've played the hi hats. Sabian B8 hi hats are just shit. I'm sorry. I just dont like them

  • lmao don't apologize, it's your opinion :)

anyways, i've never played on B8 hi hats xD

  • Lol, thanks for being understanding and not being a dick like most people. I had Meinl HCS hi hats that were bad. I have A customs now. But I played some B8 hats at the local drumshop for a while and I stuck to the other cymbals most of the time. The chick was okay....but open sounded pretty bad. Just a heads up.

  • ahah alright, i'll make sure not to get them :P

  • I got a 5 piece Tama Starclassic drumset. I have two other drums on order, but that will take like 5-8 months :(

I also have gotten a double pedal iron cobra in limited edition(chrome plated), iron cobra hi-hat stand and pedal,HHX raw bell hi-hat cybols and an AAX explosion crash(19 inch)

Its a fun kit, but expensive!

  • thanks man! I am actually thinking of re-doing this cover because I got a new drumset.

    -keep rockin'-

  • nice but what kind of kit did u get?

  • missing a few kicks here and there it gets pretty intricate in the bridge just before the chorus. BUt good work!

  • Thanks Man!

  • perfect.

    enough said.

  • Thank you very much!

  • Overall nice job. I am playing this tune and other Tool songs...

Just my 2 cents..on the outro, the off beats contradict what you are playing. Listen, you see what I am saying..

    Otherwise..Top Notch!!

  • Nice drumming and cool drum set... haven't seen one like that

  • thanks man! you too.

  • good job keep up the good work

  • ya, thats the closest they go. I tried. But im actually kinda used to it so its not that bad. Thanks for the comment!

  • great job on timing but how do you even deal with those toms so far apart? looks like some kind of a stretch.

  • thanks! Ya, even though its not the EXACT begeinning, it turned out pretty sweet. Thanks again!

  • sick beggining man!

  • Well, thanks for the comment! And thank you for the advice!

    -Keep Rocking-

  • not bad. ill only critique you on your lack of emotion while playing. REMEMBER danny carrey (tool) is AMAZING!!!

  • It makes the same sound. I put them on a slant so that they wont crack. If and cymbal goes horizontal on the height that I put them in, they would get a severe beating. I also do it so that I can hit the bells of the cymbals. So, thats why I slant them, But thank you very much for the comment!

    -Keep Rocking-

  • Very nice job. I would put those crashes horizontally to make a better sound.
