As far as trade, we lost markets, jobs and quality when NAFTA and CAFTA were passed. If we produced our own iron as an example, the jobs created for mining, smelting, transporting, processing, and distributing finished products would put thousands of people back to work. You wouldn't say that if you ever worked on a farm. Farming,growing crops, raising livestock is very labor intensive. Long hours,hard work,little thanks and little pay. It takes a lot of hard work to maintain the crops on a large spread of land, not to mention keeping thieves, animals and pests away to ensure you have a crop left to harvest or livestock to sell.
