This is great, i love the cows that stand staring at the camera wondering what your up to, very refreshing to see this, beautiful, happy healthy cows, the way these animals should be treated! Well done
this has got to be the nicest pasture i ve seen in a long time ... where i am from ... there are no real pastures ! cause of no rain falls ... i ve tested an artificial pasture (irrigated)... but man !!! WEEDDSSS everywhere ... got screwed ... guess this year my cows will get some more oat / barley silage ... : ( how in the hell did you get that so nice pasture ? good job
I think your land is fairly similar to ours, plenty of grass growth but not good enough to travel until late March early April on a normal year. How is your silage holding up?(Quantity, quality)
It's going to be tight Hoping for a early spring :) I have purchased straw , tatties and carrots to make it last a bit longer. Silage is very expensive this year in this area Seems a lot of farmers are going to run out before spring
Hi, Incidence of lameness is always high at springtime and then declines during summer Cows are back inside the barn until May 09 due to wet pasture conditions This has been the wettest August for more than 100 years. I wish i could leave the UK and emigrate to another country that gets less rain !! This endless rain is so depressing :(
hang in there buddy, the grass is usually not greener on the other side of the world (or island). It has been quite dry here in southern Minnesota, getting some much needed rain here as I write this, the lawns are brown and the corn leaves were curling. Soybeans look a bit stunted, but I think our corn crops will be ok.
Don`t complaint about wet weather. Here, in argentina, we are having the driest season of the last 40 years. Most dairy farmers have no grass, no silage left and only 1/4 of the maize silage that was in the budget for next season. It will a hard year the one ahead for us. Cheers
crazyily enough thats practically in my best friends back garden.. its bout 20 mins away from me!! maybe if i found some gold i cud buy dad a jcb loader! ya thats my cows alri.. no we only show the odd calf but i show for my neighbour n i love it av so many friends in the holstein clubs n its great to meet ppl like that.. u cant beat de craic at de shows n being completely wrecked after two nite lying on a bale of hay wit cows! :)
ur cows goes in early i think our cows over here b out longer than yours n we r in a fairly northen part of de country! do u farm on ur own r with family? ya keenan feeders r the best dad is goin to buy feeder this yr but he wants a tub n a jcb n a new grab! list is endless when u start buying! do u bring ne cattle to shows?
Would love a new jcb with grab -Will have to save up :) I farm in partnership with dad and brother. Don''t show cattle Do u show cows ? Is that your cows pictured on your YB channel page ?
I see in my newspaper today that gold worth 570 million has been discovered in Ireland on a farm near a village called Clontibret Maybe there is gold under your green pastures LOL
we had our cows out on the 21 arpil this year just in the day time n den out at nite on 26th.. weather was gud here round that time then got worse round early may. ya summer seems to fly by.. when your cows come in for winter? do u have a diet feeder??
In at nite September and full time early Oct. If it is wet it will be sooner. We don't have a feeder but our neighbour has a keenan and is very happy with it
God almighty 180 cows!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! O wow!!!!!!!!!!!!! There's just about that many on the farms around where I live!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love seeing cows out in the fields cause it means summer and silage and tractors going till all hours to get things done!!!!!!!!!!!
Hahaha a long hot dry summer huh? Judging by the look of those pastures you're an English farm who doesn't understand the meaning of drought. O my god would I kill to see some grass like that.. haven't seen that in YEARS.
Also, why does it look like half your herd has mild laminitis? Is that from being in the barns all winter?
Hi, It's a Scottish farm not English. This farm works best in a dry summer due to the "Heavy" soil. We have had almost zero rain for the last 4 weeks and the grass is still growing like crazy. A lot of the cows have digital dermatitis and walking on concrete for 7 month may be the cause I am hoping that it will improve now that they are outside.
nice to see some untrusting bossys giving the cam a staredown...and the herd sure looks optimistic on their return to the grasslands after leaving it all behind last winter when they herded back to the barn.
soon have to move them again for more grass looking at that cow at the end. was like a lawn mower, but one that would cut everything and leave only a mm of stalk left. happy for the cows and good editing

the best day in the year is letting the cows out to grass!!!

I Agree :) When do you get your cows out ? Here in Ayrshire it is normally early May. The summer seems to fly past and the winter drags on and on !
