if you hear the presentation the names of the singers are all Muslims which means that theyre Albanians singing Greek song, which is wonderful as it is wonderful when you hear Turkish or Greek or Wonderful Gypsy to sing Albanians songs. the message is clear and written: Stop the nationalism, the biggest human disease as Einstein said. Reading the comments ,apparently it is too difficult to stop ignorance ,the hate and stupidness:)
@tomanot11 I like our comment very much, no, I love it. Very well said and a bit light between all the darkness here and on other side on YouTube. Thank you very much.
it is still to early for the great realization of who we are and where we come from. I love that Albanians keep their traditions just like the Greeks do. In this way when all nations begin to find one another. Greece and Albania will become one once again. Peace!

i rather be a gypsy orthodox then a muslim scum like u go and fuk ur mother u mongol fuk head chameriia has always been greek u dogs and it will rmain that way te qifsha te motren u fukn gupsy cocksucking dog
lol, wanting rights for your people, wanting to stop others from treating them like a minority where they make up a majority, wanting freedom for them, schools (from elementary to universities) is not being nationalistic and will lead to greater things rather than isolation.
"trukalbans" , time to learn some other words so you could enrich your vocabulary and hop off our dicks at the same time...
Every video is littered with the same arguments it is so ridiculouse, as if so many different cultures within a relativley small wouldnt mix and integrate? the whole regions is mixed greek albanian slavic turkish italian thracian. There really are bigger issues in the world going on right now then where a fucking bagpipe was invented and who starting singing what at which time, it really is pathetic from everyone. Nationalism only leads to isolation. people should be ashamed.
man, be open minded, grab a few viewpoints and historical "facts" and the point where u think they seem to interact, might be where ull find YOUR truth. but just so u know, u cant get the whole picture from 1 angle...
plenty of books out there, just seems that u guys have some mental block that goes off in ur brains when those things are presented in front of you to help u cope with reality :/
we were peasants and nomads?? i beg to differ... these peasants and nomads achieved high statuses that greeks could never have imagined of(excpet religoin, u guys made the orthodox religion with the help of ur slavic brothers and middle easterners), especially in the Roman and Byzantine empire going as far as becoming Emperors
as far as the romanian gypsies are concerned, they're the ones that speak albanian (thx to enver hoxha) said they're albanian till yesterday, but all of a sudden decided that they're greek, plenty of em in Himara...
if they wanna be greek, they could move to southern greece somewhere, but not claim that a land that they settled in a few decades ago is greek cause all of a sudden they decided to call themselves greek( thx to ur orthodox church)
u still talking shit everywherre u go faggot stop this bullshit propaganda of urs u maggot thinking everything is albanian the ppl from himara fought the turkalbanians because they where greek orthodox and not albaniana u fukn lab get this through ur brain retaard
@evdoxoszel if you know thehy have small dicks al of them. you must have been sucking them. or watched your muther been fucked by albanians. sins you know they have SMALL Dick you must have seen them hahahahaha
what u call northern greece, is actually southern albanian... why isnt polyphonic music practiced in southern greece, meanwhile it is practiced throughout albanian lands (albanians in montenegro, kosova and macedonia) ???
as far as where the bagpipe originated... along with many other woodwind instruments like the kavall, ocarina, etc, they're older than human history itself, when humans first settled down and transformed into an agrarian society from hunter gatherers
You are wrong, in each part of greece you find different kind of music. But all have one common characteristic, they believe the first organ in music was human voice. Even in aegean ans Anatolia with so powerfull music (Lyra,Uti,Buzuki) or macedonia & Epirus with Gaida (nowdays Klarinet), there was no song that human voice had nt the prime part in the creation. Actually Byzantine (Greek with roman style at first) music went all these musical characteristics ages in future connecting east and west
man, fuck greeks, they suckin ass cause they hit a dead end when it comes to music and costumes.... our great great grandfathers made a mistake of trusting you once, now their great grandsons(well the ones that survived) are ashamed of calling themselves albanian...
romanian gypsies(like captaim sm4) that claim they're greeks now, meanwhile said they're albanian till yesterday dont count, nor does their opinion on anything concerning our nations
"our great grandfather" "romanian gypsies?" dude what the fuck are you people smoking??
the bagpipe originated in thraco-Macedonian, first of all and second, polyphony is an ancient Greek tradition which is still practiced heavily in northern Greece
to add, Balkan cultures/traditions of today are very integrated and believe me Albanians werent the forefathers of these traditions.. you people were all peasants and nomads, so spare the world with your bullshit
shut up you idiot of a bastard child!! who ruled you, and you influenced you culturally? Romans, Greeks, and then your stepfather that you so grew to love turkey.. you people didn't even know how to write... were gonna mimic you people?? get fuckin real dude!! you were living like dogs while we had what is called the Polis.. City life.. monkey boy

there is not albanian polyphonic music idiot.Polyphonic music is used by Greeks albanians, bulgarians etc. What lead you to the conclusion that it is only albanian
If they sing albanian then can you translate what they say cause i don't speak albanian but i know what it says.BTW thanx fro using a greek name for username
THe anchor presents them well: Albanians that will sing a song in Greel language, stupid! Clean your ears and your eyes to see their national Albanian dress, stupid!
Even kroatians have polyphonic songs. But this style of singning is purely albanian, and greeks have copied it to 100%. Greeks dont make their own style but they steal ours.
and how do you know that greeks stole it and not the opposite albanians stole it cause that is what i think. All sources prove that Byzantine Greeks were the center of civilization for all the conquered people like albanians.
thats funny cause Greeks have been using the instrument of voice, and polyphony dating to pre- Socratic times, venerating how the voice is the most beautiful instrument.. It's funny that only Southern Albanians practice polyphony ;)
Megjithse bashkeatdhetaret me larte kan mendimin e tyre dhe i respektoj po ju them dhe atyre se kan haruar gjuhen shqipe dhe shkruajn me mire anglishte se sa shqip ,doja tju them se komenti i juaj lidhur me kete teme mere me shume vlere kur e shkruani ne shqip qe ta kuptojne dhe ata zoterinjte qe kane vene kete video dhe populli i thjeshte .
greek wish they sing and make music like albanians. .they try , but they miss they passion like the albanians. you immidiatly see wich is the fake one
how ridiculous listening an Albanian polifonik song sang in Greek.t doesn't have a sense.Polifonik song is Epirotian It has nothing to do with new Greeks.
Some of us are born AND raised in Greece... you can't create an illusion, to people that have lived the reality.
So shut up and don't be so envious.
If ancient sources tell you that Greek speaking Chaones sang that way... well now, they just REDEFINED exactly what it means to be Ancient Greek (Albanian)!
"Iso refers to the drone accompanying the singing" "The Tosks perform the drone continuously and sung on the syllable e (don't you hear it in this song?) while the Labs sometimes sing the drone as a rhythmic tone. " (UNESCO ref.)
Folk Iso-Polyphony is a form of traditional music of Albania. Most of the villages and towns have an iso-polyphony band. Iso refers to the drone accompanying the singing. Rendered principally by male singers, it is performed during social events (weddings, harvest feast, funerals, religious celebrations, festivals, etc.).
It is practised in the south of Albania and is typical for two large areas: Toskeria and Labëria. If both Tosk and Lab polyphonic songs include ballads, historic songs, lyrical songs, etc, they perform the drone differently.
The Tosks perform the drone continuously and sung on the syllable e, while the Labs sometimes sing the drone as a rhythmic tone. Traditionally, iso-polyphony in the southern part of Albania has been transmitted form parents to children, but large-scale migrations due to economic hardship have caused the discontinuation of this mode of transmission.

This is the song of Mother Teresa from Arjan Shehu.
NOT Greek made by Greeks, just translated by the Albanians for this special occasion. Greeks do not sing polyphonic, only some well-meaning Albanians, as sign of respect.
History of Art in Balcans nuk permend KURRE folkun grek per polifoni. KURRE- polifonia eshte tipike shqiptare-malesia e Kurveleshit dhe gjithe zona jug-perendimore dhe nje pjese e malesise qendrore-ESHTE TIPIKE SHQIPTARE.lol

Even poliphony means manyvoices, in Albania this is not traditionally called poliphony, it is "kenge labe"!
Poliphonic is just a "technical" term. Like there are a lot of poliphonic way of singing all over the world! "Poliphonic" is just a modern introduced term to call this groups in Albania ;)
Not because "poliphony" is a greek term, means that this is a greek way of singing.
You must agree that you create a word to describe something that exist. The word poliphony was created to describe a certain kind of music on Epirus territory.
We both agree that poliphony is an ancient music. I hope we both agree that Epirus was inhabited by both Greek and Illyrian Epirotes and this music is a "child" of epirus. Neither Albanian or Greek tradition. If it is a albania or greek tradition only why its not spread all over greece and albania?
@adavalas maybey, that could be withe verything. we cant go back in history. but on thing is certain. 98 procent is made by albanias 2 procent by greek groups. so take your conclusion out of this
@agon1984 its only natural polyphony tradition to remain alive mostly in albanian epirus rather to greek epirus for the simple reason greek society changed drastically from 1950 and on and albanian society start to change from 1990 and on (i mean the transitions of people to big cities from villages). Never the less only at the territories of Epirus you can see polyphony meaning that Polyphony is neither greek neither Albanian and most likely the most ancient music in Europe.
@adavalas something that is thousand of years old, doenst change in a time spam of 50 years, difference. but its not important to fight on this subject, i hope greek keep there traditions on polyphony alive also. like albanians do .
@adavalas ehhh are you serious? polyphonic it is Albanian/Epirote because it does not sound good in greek like it sounds in Albanian, or Epirotic language which is Albanian, for this there are many writtings!
@topallia Its albanian tradition cause polyphony dont sound good at greek? Is that an argument? Epirotic language? Most epirotan tribes spoke greek language from ancient times and some tribes spoke illyrian language . Just read any academic book (and not thrash sites) and you will find out.
no we dont agree ...the inhabitants of cameria or tsamouria, until they've been forced to leave or had assimilate (through the orthodox religion) ... you want proofs?
you guys are still singing albanian songs - but in contrast to italians you deny any relation of their songs towards their homecountry albania/arberia
When you speak for Albanian Songs you mean the songs of Epirus Region? Like it or not Epirus from ancient times has Greeks and Illyrians . Mythology give us strong signs that those 2 races were relatives. Never the less Illyrian "blood" exist on ancient as well as modern greece. Those greeks are not albanian. There is also greek "blood"on many Albanians (especially tosks) which dont make them Greeks also. Same apply for music also.
The Albanians that didnt immigrate since since the fall of communism werent only tosks but gegs too. You may see on their surnames (gekas for example)!
They preservered their culture and heritage until Greece became a paranoid and xenophobe (also a greek word lol ;) ) country!
But hey, since modern greeks are an arvanite-turk-vlach-mixup, you may call this music also greek.
@micalbani Paranoid and xenophobe country? Have you ever lived at Greece or you just read stories? In my country live more than 1.000.000 albanians and most of them will be greek citizens. Many of them are ready to vote at next elections.
You say that we are a mix of many Balkan nations.I agree and i don't give a damn. :)
You really think that you are a pure race? Which race is that? By the way are you a nazi lover and you keep talking about pure races? Whats your story?
Yeah, I read enough stories and talked to enough ppl to know that (about) every 2nd has Albanian or Vlach roots (or just look like a turk) meanwhile everyone of them is trying to be the most "greek" ever, and of course descendent of Achilles and co .....
And enough stories to know how my folks and other immigrants are treaten there.
Tell us how bad we treat to Arvanites cause many of them were and are national heroes, prime ministers and so on. You are obviously a racist and you complaint about other racists? :)
I ask you if you are a nazi and you didnt answer You tell us that we look like Turks (is that something bad according to your racist theories? by the way some of your people became muslims not mine -i have MANY MUSLIM friends) Also you never answer me which is your pure race? Still waiting answers :)
you might be a gipsy and sing my albanian or whatever epirotan song ... that is nothing bad at alll => but it doesnt make you an epirotan/illyrian or greek, whatever.
As ppl are dealing with Albanians ... which u dont relate to Arvanites, though they remain a part of our ethnicity/culture, is obviously seen in the news ... the army sings songs like we gonna kill them and make leather out of their skin etc.
if i made this up take a look at the videos which are on the enet
@micalbani i came from souli and we continue to fight with all Greeks carrying the flag of Georgios Kastriotis when some others prefer to submit and change their religion . Capisci ?
So chill out man and find someone else to offend.
Army at all worlds keep racist and hate songs unfortunately. Your army don't sing similar songs? Gimme a fucking break man
I'm not making up a theory ... but if you are chinese and sing a german song ... it doesnt make you german though, so I m not offending anyone.
If you are of Albanian origin you just may lie to yourself that you are greek ... or that Gjerg Kastriot had any relation to greeks.
He was raised muslim ... converted to catholicism when he saw he wasnt getting any shit for his battles from the sultan, and afterwards he nor us Albanians didnt get anything from Rome or Venice.
What money lol? I didnt mention money ever ... what he expected was first, that the Sultan gives him his own lands back ... later he expected soldiers from Rome etc...
@adavalas there where albanians wich where orhtdox fight against albanain muslims that where muslims and with the turks. the turk albanians became turks. the souli warriors became greeks. thats the fact. but still they all where albanians. and so much people of your country, we played the highest roles in the greek state. and turkisch empire. that says what kind of people we are. most dangeours warriors. most beautiful and authenitic music of europe. most beautiful clothing
@agon1984 All true my friend. However now even though i am not Arvanitis, if I say to an Arvaniti they are not Greek they will be insulted. Arvanites are very tough and proud people.
@adavalas greeks are the state that sees everyone wich is orthodox is greek, you the onl country in the eu wich didnt seperate church and state your much like saudi arabia. and scene in you recent situation in greece. your not democratic killing your own people in demonstrations just like in iran. ...
@adavalas ,you must bel glad that the most people from outside come from your neigbour country and are not arabs or kurds or whatever but you dont see this.
@Ermal8711 This music? You mean they hear it all over Albania? Yes and my wife is from Crete and she loves Epirus songs. That doesn't make the music Cretan . Origin of this music is from Epirus. Period.Ask any student of History of Music. All other are nationalistic bullshits and bullshits remain bullshits either if there are Albanian or Greek bullshits . I hope no offend.
an albanian group sings a greek song...SHUT UP AND LISTEN!!!!!!!FUCKING ASSHOLES...I hope one day to destroy the whole Balkan

Nationalism only leads to isolation. people should be ashamed.

what u call northern greece, is actually southern albanian... why isnt polyphonic music practiced in southern greece, meanwhile it is practiced throughout albanian lands (albanians in montenegro, kosova and macedonia) ???
as far as where the bagpipe originated... along with many other woodwind instruments like the kavall, ocarina, etc, they're older than human history itself, when humans first settled down and transformed into an agrarian society from hunter gatherers
valdrin85 2 years ago
You are wrong, in each part of greece you find different kind of music. But all have one common characteristic, they believe the first organ in music was human voice. Even in aegean ans Anatolia with so powerfull music (Lyra,Uti,Buzuki) or macedonia & Epirus with Gaida (nowdays Klarinet), there was no song that human voice had nt the prime part in the creation. Actually Byzantine (Greek with roman style at first) music went all these musical characteristics ages in future connecting east and west

"Iso refers to the drone accompanying the singing" "The Tosks perform the drone continuously and sung on the syllable e (don't you hear it in this song?) while the Labs sometimes sing the drone as a rhythmic tone. " (UNESCO ref.)
There's no Polifoni without ISO!
marioladh 2 years ago 2
Folk Iso-Polyphony is a form of traditional music of Albania. Most of the villages and towns have an iso-polyphony band. Iso refers to the drone accompanying the singing. Rendered principally by male singers, it is performed during social events (weddings, harvest feast, funerals, religious celebrations, festivals, etc.).
marioladh 2 years ago 3
It is practised in the south of Albania and is typical for two large areas: Toskeria and Labëria. If both Tosk and Lab polyphonic songs include ballads, historic songs, lyrical songs, etc, they perform the drone differently.
marioladh 2 years ago
The Tosks perform the drone continuously and sung on the syllable e, while the Labs sometimes sing the drone as a rhythmic tone. Traditionally, iso-polyphony in the southern part of Albania has been transmitted form parents to children, but large-scale migrations due to economic hardship have caused the discontinuation of this mode of transmission.

Warm Regards from Albania
my dear Athanasios :)
neoetnia 2 years ago
You must agree that you create a word to describe something that exist. The word poliphony was created to describe a certain kind of music on Epirus territory.
We both agree that poliphony is an ancient music. I hope we both agree that Epirus was inhabited by both Greek and Illyrian Epirotes and this music is a "child" of epirus. Neither Albanian or Greek tradition. If it is a albania or greek tradition only why its not spread all over greece and albania?
adavalas 2 years ago 7
@adavalas maybey, that could be withe verything. we cant go back in history. but on thing is certain. 98 procent is made by albanias 2 procent by greek groups. so take your conclusion out of this
agon1984 1 year ago
@agon1984 its only natural polyphony tradition to remain alive mostly in albanian epirus rather to greek epirus for the simple reason greek society changed drastically from 1950 and on and albanian society start to change from 1990 and on (i mean the transitions of people to big cities from villages). Never the less only at the territories of Epirus you can see polyphony meaning that Polyphony is neither greek neither Albanian and most likely the most ancient music in Europe.
adavalas 1 year ago
@adavalas something that is thousand of years old, doenst change in a time spam of 50 years, difference. but its not important to fight on this subject, i hope greek keep there traditions on polyphony alive also. like albanians do .
agon1984 1 year ago
@adavalas ehhh are you serious? polyphonic it is Albanian/Epirote because it does not sound good in greek like it sounds in Albanian, or Epirotic language which is Albanian, for this there are many writtings!
topallia 1 year ago
@topallia Its albanian tradition cause polyphony dont sound good at greek? Is that an argument? Epirotic language? Most epirotan tribes spoke greek language from ancient times and some tribes spoke illyrian language . Just read any academic book (and not thrash sites) and you will find out.
adavalas 1 year ago
@adavalas
no we dont agree ...the inhabitants of cameria or tsamouria, until they've been forced to leave or had assimilate (through the orthodox religion) ... you want proofs?
you guys are still singing albanian songs - but in contrast to italians you deny any relation of their songs towards their homecountry albania/arberia
micalbani 1 year ago
@micalbani
Same apply for music also.
adavalas 1 year ago
@adavalas
The Albanians that didnt immigrate since since the fall of communism werent only tosks but gegs too. You may see on their surnames (gekas for example)!
They preservered their culture and heritage until Greece became a paranoid and xenophobe (also a greek word lol ;) ) country!
But hey, since modern greeks are an arvanite-turk-vlach-mixup, you may call this music also greek.
micalbani 1 year ago
@micalbani Paranoid and xenophobe country? Have you ever lived at Greece or you just read stories? In my country live more than 1.000.000 albanians and most of them will be greek citizens. Many of them are ready to vote at next elections.
You say that we are a mix of many Balkan nations.I agree and i don't give a damn. :)
