@thenoodleman66 Its actually called the "Jack", Matt wendling first presented this manuver when performing for his world championship title in 2009, on the other note i give you props you figured out how to do it ;) most people who do it usually get hurt doing it so i give you major props
@XxJROTCxX actually its called many things... the kyle, the juggler (i just learned), double rising sun, etc... and matt was the first to do it in a national competition but a kid from Lincoln Way East was the first (that i know of) to do it ever at the ohio regional drill meet a few years back. and thank you :) if my seargent hadnt dared me to do it i probably never would have tried it. but thanks for the props my friend. :)
@rangersinper54 hmm... we spent about 3 hrs a day about 3-4 days a week after school. usually from right when school let out till around 5pm. training im not too sure... we had 2nd and 3rd year team members teach the new guys the basics and then tought them the special stuff as they needed to know it (usually when we use it in our sequence)
@rangersinper54 think out of the box... when we practiced as a team and even sometimes when i practiced my solo we would film ourselves and watch them later to see what we need to improve on... also i used painters tape to mark out the general path one would walk for more complicated moves. also, see if you can get a hold of a past member of your unit who may have been known for being talented (thats what i was able to do with matt wendling) also use you tube, as weird as that may sound, ...
@mac4clan2 (^continued) ...as weird as that may sound, there are a lot of clips of regional and national competitions with some good stuff that you can tweak to fit in your routine... other than that just be creative, think outside the box, dont be afraid to change something up if it isnt working but know when to hold firm to something if you are close to getting it... (the tape really helped for those moments). i hope this helped. good luck :)
@xROTCxRIFLEMANx at first it is kind of heavy (ther were 10-11 lbs) but after spinning them for a while you get used to them... also we had this dance studio in our school with pole weights and i liked to spin the 15 lb one once in a while (mostly because it made my rifle feel lighter if i spun right after and it kind of felt weird haha)
How heavy was the shape that you were spinning? The shapes that we use are 14 pounds...it was kinda hard spinning at first, but I got pretty good at it :)
@round105 i went to the same school as matt..... i'd like to say he himself tought me but my seargent dared me to try it,,, at first i hav no intention of doing it but i guess all it takes is a little motivation to try it...... right now im working on something mostly origional and still with two rofles... just have to work out a few kinks.
@round105 I'm Mikes ol' man and have been going to meets for 5 years and I've never seen any one even try the dbl rising sun, much less pull it off without a hitch.
@Drillislife4493 it was only my second year on my rifle team and i was more about being able to land larger stunts rather than staring down the judge... and it seemed to work out for me... i was 2 points away from a perfect score. besides, right now (about a year after this video [for future reference]) i can do all of this with my eyes closed (i practiced this a lot) so bearing isnt as mch of a problem now.
I love how you did the two-rifle spins, it looks epic and complex, but it's actually really easy seeing as you're not actually letting go of the rifles during the last segment. The duel one-handed spins however, requires a little skill.
@drifter847 thank you... at my school, you need to try out for the rifle team... they get everyone who wants to try out together and teaches them some basic spins over a one week period and at the end, evaluate what they've learned and how well they can do it. although there is a freshman armed IDR team, armed exhibition is exclusively advanced (hope that answers your question)
@darkwolfx91 thank you... i did hit my leg a couple times at the beginning. you really cant tell because the rifle doesnt stop moving but you can hear it, but this was by far the best routine i personaly have done... :)
That was a very awsome routine my school comes nowhere near as good as that

is that a light or heavy rifle?
xROTCxRIFLEMANx 3 months ago
@xROTCxRIFLEMANx About 9 1/2 pounds. It's not the old fiberglass rifle. Those were much lighter.
