  • I think Bernie falls short of being a HOFer, but he was a very good player. Can't believe he's received only 2.6% of the HOF votes so far. Meanwhile, Jack Morris (one of the most overrated players of all-time) has received over 60% of the votes.

  • i was gonna like this and then i saw that it had exactly 51 likes and thought it was perfect..

  • great post!!!

    thanks for sharing.

  • I wonder if the announcer also mentioned that Bernie was the last Yankee to win the batting title.

    Retire # 51.

  • # 51 forever ! Bernie was the man !

  • Puerto Rican Pride, Bernie Williams is one of the greatest Puerto Rican ball players.

  • bernie hamburgiez!!

  • Bernie Rocks. His music is as sweet as his performance on the ball field.

  • retire #51

  • @asstcommish Exactly I love Bernie Williams I

v got so many autographed memrabelia I even met him once I can't wait till they have aBernie Williams day and retire his number and give him plac in lengends field!!!!

  • thanks for posting this video! I am teary eyed now....thanks for the memories Bernie!!

  • Thanks, Bernie.

  • I love watching this video...you can hear the announcement and the crowd which makes you feel like you are there. Great video...gives me goosebumps watching it. Bernie was one of the best...gave it his all...played with such passion and intensity! How lucky of fans were we to get to see him (and some of the others) play the game for their entire careers!

  • I'm a Mets fan, and I even got choked up when they announced Bernie.. He deserved every bit of that applause. It's a shame how the Yankees front office didn't keep him at least another year or two. Brett Gardner my ass.

  • Ber-nie Wi-lliams!

A class act and a great Yankee.

  • wack

  • I had a sunday package in 07 and 08, got the final game in 08...one of the best experiences of my life. When Bernie came back, had to be one of the most exciting moments I've ever had at the stadium. But that'll probably break as I'm going to game 1 of the ALDS on wednesday...my first time at a playoff game.

  • much deserved bernie was a class act

  • Bernie is a very talented musician!

  • He is just awesome..... great ballplayer and guitarist... just an all around great person

  • Being at this game. the stadium went absolutely NUTS! It was such a memorable moment.

  • i get goosebumps til this day watching this. he was my absolute favorite yankee and favorite player ever. bernie was a tru professional n about as clutch a player as u would ever find. who will ever forget his big hits n homers in the playoffs. God bless u Bernie.its a shame the yanks did u n torre dirty but u both went out on top. im proud 2 say ur easily one of the top 5 Boricua players ever

  • @pr4life82188 i love bernie too, but he was probably the worst clutch hitter ive ever seen. hes just had so many oppertunities of course hes gonna do somethin once in a while. now paul was clutch

  • Easily one of my favorite Yankees during their championship years. I loved how he received one of the longest and loudest ovations when past Yankees were introduced during the ceremonies. You could see just how touched he was when the fans chanted his name as if was still on the team.

But the moment I enjoyed the most was when he took off his cap and used his hands to defer to the fans at 2:34, as if to say they made his success and the player he became possible. What a great, noble gesture.

  • Thank you for capturing this beautiful moment. Bernie has been my favorite and no one can be better than Bernie.

  • He's been my favorite player ever since the first time I saw him play at age 6. 51 is my favorite number since. He's the greatest!

  • do you know why he weres 51?...... he wants puerto rico to be the 51st state

  • @CorCat87 are u serious? this is sports dont mix that shit with this

  • As much a gentleman, athlete, and sportsman as the great Joe DiMaggio. Bern, baby, Bern!

  • 51 needs to to the park

along with 21 but 51 goes first because he was homegrown

  • most classiest player ever and hall of famer. never argued a call and always played the game like a true gentlman, my favorite player to wear the pinstripes. number 51 needs to be retired

  • That was a great moment

  • bernie!!!

  • Bern BABY bern!!!!

  • Hes my favorite ball player of all time. They better retire his number

  • love him so much, bern baby bern =]

  • Retire this motherfucker's number for christ's sake!!! What a player!

  • THANK YOU BERNIE, 51 FOREVEVER!!!!

  • Bern baby Bern!!!

  • i actually shed a tear when i watched this. lol

  • Bernie Williams is the fuckin man!!!

  • Is and will always be #1 to me.. The biggest mistake the yankees ever made was letting him go..

  • The first NYY homerun I have ever seen at Yankee Stadium was Bernie Williams. He's one of my favorite Yankees of alltime.

  • my first was sorianio in his first yankee fame ever, Bernie was my second.

  • We Love you Bernie!!! They should have resigned instead they blew all their money on that piece of shit PAVANO!! Fuck you CARL!

  • my all time favorite Yankee!!! i wish he would play again

  • I miss seeing him in center field. Bernie's number will definitely be retired. Hope he makes Cooperstown too!

  • i was at dat game

  • one of the best guys to have ever graced yankee stadium. he is a real hero. a quiet giant of awesomeness. he will always be my yankee

  • The chills run up your spine at the fact one of the best yankees in history makes his first appearance back since the club didnt offer him a contract. Sad to see the way the yanks let him go.

  • they dont make ball players like Bernie anymore. In 98, the red sox offered bernie more money than the yanks but he wanted to stay a yankee and he stood loyal. after derek and mo, i doubt you will c anyone wear 1 uniform their whole career. A true yankee a, gent off the feild and a winner. quietly he is top 5 in every yankee offensive category and one of the all time playoff performers. I cant wait to c #51 retired and c him in monument park

  • bernie was the most underappreciated yankee of all time. cant wait for the monument park ceremony

  • Honor whom honor deserves.

  • the best cf i have seen at all my life..

    poder latinoo!! =D

  • That WAS pretty dang special. And I'm a Mets fan. But hey, who can resist those Yankees? Good group and they the NY fans what any team should ever give their fans; class, dedication and heart.

  • LETS GO BERNIE

  • Awesome.

  • Amazing. Thanks for posting this.

  • This was great.

  • would have loved to have been there

    thanks for posting this
