I think Bernie falls short of being a HOFer, but he was a very good player. Can't believe he's received only 2.6% of the HOF votes so far. Meanwhile, Jack Morris (one of the most overrated players of all-time) has received over 60% of the votes.
v got so many autographed memrabelia I even met him once I can't wait till they have aBernie Williams day and retire his number and give him plac in lengends field!!!!
I love watching this video...you can hear the announcement and the crowd which makes you feel like you are there. Great video...gives me goosebumps watching it. Bernie was one of the best...gave it his all...played with such passion and intensity! How lucky of fans were we to get to see him (and some of the others) play the game for their entire careers!
I'm a Mets fan, and I even got choked up when they announced Bernie.. He deserved every bit of that applause. It's a shame how the Yankees front office didn't keep him at least another year or two. Brett Gardner my ass.
I had a sunday package in 07 and 08, got the final game in 08...one of the best experiences of my life. When Bernie came back, had to be one of the most exciting moments I've ever had at the stadium. But that'll probably break as I'm going to game 1 of the ALDS on wednesday...my first time at a playoff game.
i get goosebumps til this day watching this. he was my absolute favorite yankee and favorite player ever. bernie was a tru professional n about as clutch a player as u would ever find. who will ever forget his big hits n homers in the playoffs. God bless u Bernie.its a shame the yanks did u n torre dirty but u both went out on top. im proud 2 say ur easily one of the top 5 Boricua players ever
@pr4life82188 i love bernie too, but he was probably the worst clutch hitter ive ever seen. hes just had so many oppertunities of course hes gonna do somethin once in a while. now paul was clutch
Easily one of my favorite Yankees during their championship years. I loved how he received one of the longest and loudest ovations when past Yankees were introduced during the ceremonies. You could see just how touched he was when the fans chanted his name as if was still on the team.
But the moment I enjoyed the most was when he took off his cap and used his hands to defer to the fans at 2:34, as if to say they made his success and the player he became possible. What a great, noble gesture.
most classiest player ever and hall of famer. never argued a call and always played the game like a true gentlman, my favorite player to wear the pinstripes. number 51 needs to be retired
The chills run up your spine at the fact one of the best yankees in history makes his first appearance back since the club didnt offer him a contract. Sad to see the way the yanks let him go.
they dont make ball players like Bernie anymore. In 98, the red sox offered bernie more money than the yanks but he wanted to stay a yankee and he stood loyal. after derek and mo, i doubt you will c anyone wear 1 uniform their whole career. A true yankee a, gent off the feild and a winner. quietly he is top 5 in every yankee offensive category and one of the all time playoff performers. I cant wait to c #51 retired and c him in monument park
That WAS pretty dang special. And I'm a Mets fan. But hey, who can resist those Yankees? Good group and they the NY fans what any team should ever give their fans; class, dedication and heart.
