Ah the magnificent Garrels! I've heard that when building his organs he cast the hot pipes in sand to achieve this wonderful sound we hear now. Alra1975 has posted quite a few videos of this organ.
It's amazing what they were able to accomplish in the Baroque era!
@advisorC101 I'm not surprised to hear about the casting of pipes in sand to achieve a distinctive tone. The organ was the most complex piece of "machinery" built by man until the Industrial Revolution. Take a look at the workings of this Garrels instrument and the great organs of Haarlem and Weingarten in particular, and the sheer complexity of all the moving parts that needed to be brought together in a coherent whole, will greatly surprise you. Beautiful musicianship from Mr Koopman.
From 4:00 till 4:22 Bach plays over and over the same part.
And right after my first thought "wow, this get bored" he take my scruffy neck, and KICK me to the part from 4:31 till 4:53
WHAT A GENIUS!! my apologies master Bach

Again, Garrels was an absolute genius in the art of organ building.
