  • Was I Love Lucy racist ?? What about Bonanza ? How about George Lopez....

(never mind, you might have a point there)

What's the difference? These are talented actors and actresses that never got their due credit because of the racism of the NAACP !!

  • of course white ppl wouldn't see the racism here. fun and giggles! smh

  • why is this showing the man laying down in his office, is this the image of the lazy black man?

  • "I been married to you for 22 years and you done soured me on the whole female sex."

  • @robinhoodtn1 Oh, come on...where did you get that info from?

  • This should get the T.N.B. prize at once.

  • Period. Colon. White space. New para-giraffe.

  • @4:12, priceless!

  • This TV series should be completely restored and distributed on DVD by a reputable company. There was nothing wrong with "Amos 'n Andy"; there was something wrong with the horrible political climate of the period in which it was aired. It was a successful comedy like The Abbott and Costello Show and "My Little Margie". It deserves to be resurrected and shown for its rightful place in the history of the "Golden Age of Television". It is better than most programs, including "Modern Family".

  • This is pure comedy. And it's the best there is. Racism my ass. I love this show. The actors won me over. The skits won me over. None better then nor now.

  • I'm old enough to remember these when they were new. They are still great!

  • you're all a bunch of namby-pamby politically correct puppits if you think this series should be censored. This show is so funny it defies anything out today. and, it does it without sex, profanity, and violence!

  • why is it that whites are always wealthy and educated like Ma and Pa Kettle??? answer that you racists!!

  • Wasn't it Andy who narrated the show and was very rarely if ever seen? Can some one help me out with this question? I saw reruns in like '62 or

    "63, and I was only like 11 or 12.

  • The NAACP are about "NOTHING", they have never done anything for people, Black or White, but cririze, judge, and condem, they should have been put out of business years ago, they need to get out of business, and never come back!!!!!

  • The NAACP is out of order, redicilous, why are they so againt this show, I think this show is Great, one of the best comedy show's that ever cam to TV

  • How can anyone call this "despicable"? (Even if they did spell it wrong). I agree that there was absolutely nothing "racist" about this at all. Do blacks really have such a thin skin, or do you think the NAACP is just grandstanding?

  • I give you my word of honor, I'll never let you catch me!

  • OH Saphhire why you knows I'd never look at another woman. Being married to you has spoiled me on the whole thing!

  • Sad these actors will never have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Because of the raciest NAACP, these actors are all forgotten.

  • I don't think this is racist at all. I'm black as well and I'm 14. Come on, it's not everyday you see black people star in their own comedy show.

  • You done soured me on the whole female sex.

  • Loving Amos & Andy is exactly the opposite of racist. Some people just go around with chips on their shoulders. These people on this show were great actors and actresses, and they put joy and laughter into our lives back in the fifties, when people weren't wound so tight! I hope we get to see Sapphire's mother, Ramona Smith. She could sure put Kingfish in his place! LOL...

Love ya Amos & Andy---welcome back to the land of the living!!!

  • blackngoldgal65 Great comment. Tim Moore was Red Foxx's favorite comedian. I am glad that Laurel And Hardy were not black, or the 3 Stooges, or Abbott and Costello. They would be all but unknown. Truth is the people on this program were amazing comics. I laugh and laugh everytime I see them.

  • I don't quite understand the whole 'racist' element. The show also had black lawyers, judges, police women and other professionals. And i agree with pegcage, how is this worse than Sanford and son?

  • I am in full agreement with you. There was a little bit of everything. The actors were very talented and I find these gangsta rappers and movies offensive. The NAACP should ban those music vids and movies.

  • @CAU98 I think that's the way the NAACP wants black people to be portayed. Just look at the difference in their communities and culture from the 50's to today. The more free stuff the govt. threw at them, the lower they became. It proves that you can kill someone with kindness.

  • Dispiscable. Truely dispiscable. The black actors must not have had any sort of pride or self respect.

  • That picture of Sapphire on his desk - what a hoot! This show had obvious humor but a lot of subtle humor too. Genius!

  • I had an argument once with an Afro-American who contended this was a racist show. I asked him, "What about Sanford and Son and the Jeffersons? Everybody seems to love those shows!" He had no answer whatsoever for me.

  • racist my ass...the nigger shit of today is racist no talent crap...Amos and Andy was the best ever and if it is racist to you, you are a asshole idiot

  • I don't know about racist, but that statement about no-talent is right on the money. Thank Heaven for YouTube.

If you are in agreement, say AMEN.

  • "honey, I give you my word, I'll never let you catch me!" What a hooooottt!

  • Why is this racist? It shows the characters as hard-working and generally well-meaning (except for Kingfish) people. What is racist about this show?

  • Amos and Andy is considered racist because it began as a radio show with two white men doing black dialect. When the show became televised, the two white men appeared a few times in blackface -- major no-no - then the show was cast with true black actors and actresses.

  • Thank you for posting these vintage shows. I haven't seen them since I was a child. I guess I understand why they are offensive to some, but I appreciate the cast and all of their comedic talents. The characters are incredible!

  • If you're a racist, then everything is racist. If you're not racist, this is entertainment. Don't be so damned judgemental!!

  • kids should watch these shows more

  • Why? It's incredibly racist.

  • Whats racist about it?

  • wereallcrazygermans said:" Why? It's incredibly racist." I guess if it had rappers screaming KILL WHITEY, then it wouldn't be racist.

  • I supremely second that. (I'm of African-Scots-Irish-Welsh-Scandinavian-Native American descent, okay?)
