Freddy fender from my home town. Ha is buried.here. we have original records of him for sale. My aunt owns the building where he recorded music when he was young!!
i love u sooo much and always have -born Aug '63 my (late)Father raised us with only the best musicians and their music - thank u alot - me taki mata (mata - meaning -BIG) from the Cook Islands xoxoxo
Wasted days and nights, he only says it once, why didnt they call it why should keep loving you, well, whatever, it still is a good song, he and Conway Twitty and Charlie Rich and a bunch of others are the best ever
This guy was my introduction to bi-lingual country singing. Love him and love his voice!!! 1937-2006 and 5' 10". God bless you, Freddy, in His arms and singing always.
G-d bless an thank you Freddy, Baldemar Garza Huerta , your music is in my heart. I can remember how your's and other's music kept me sane through some miserable years. May you rest in Paradise forever.
One of country's best and will always be on our favorite list. This song was hot when I went through a broken engagement and still cry when I hear it. Men can be so cold and then people wonder why hearts are damaged!
When I feel down-hearted, I play this youtube concert w Freddy. Thanks mightyduc998. To jetlag2000: Why is it that some great arrtists succumb to alcohol or drugs? I think thry "feel" much more than the normal robots.
He was buried in his hometown of San Benito. His family is committed to continue the Freddy Fender Scholarship Fund and other philanthropic causes which the musician was passionate about. Doesn't sound like he was drunk and broke, but maybe....
He had a kidney transplant in 2002 donated by his daughter & a liver transplant in 2004. But, his condition continued to worsen. He was suffering from an "incurable cancer" in which he had tumors on his lungs. December 31, 2005, he performed his last concert & resumed chemotherapy. He died in 2006 at the age of 69 of lung cancer at his home in Corpus Christi, Texas, with his family at his bedside.
Freddy's first contest win was for a sack of food ... It was hard times in hot dusty south texas... San Benito ...Robstown ... Corpus ..
Freddy , Albert , Pete and others dreamed and achieved their even short success at a time when the door was pretty much shut for poor boys from migrant worker towns.
They did not forget where they came from and tried to help others. I remember them.
30, yes 30 unsoul gutless fools are Wasted Days and Wasted Nights, because this a beautiful great song, sang by the one and only freddy fender. may his rest in peace, and now the lord can hear him sing in heaven. :)

dgarvin11 2 months ago
@dgarvin11 i wonderd that my self,so i wikkipedia it,this is what i found out,
he was born Baldemar Garza Huerta,
he changed his name to f fender (after the amps)
in 54 he join the marines in 56 he was court martiald (it didnt say why)
and in 60 he was sent to angola for "nearly three years"for possession of weed
raunchy1313 2 months ago
@dgarvin11 You can be a Latino with a non Spanish last name. It happens people mixed different last names and they just got stuck in the family.
