@Steve128967 Yeah i think so. I have always been a bit ambidextrous. My left hand is dominant for sports and what not and my right is more controlled for things like writing, shooting, mechanic work, etc. However the more i play drums open handed with 2 rides/hats, the more i seem to useright hand lead especially for tom rolls and blasting. Ian from sickdrummer called me leftydextrous...sounds about right!
@AlexLancia That's pretty interesting! I'm right handed myself though I've been pursuing open handed playing for several months now, I want to make that just the way I play because I really hate crossing over... a lot of metal dudes use open handed sometimes but not really for blasting/skanking and such, so stuff like this/ambidexterity on this level is pretty inspiring for me. :)
@AlexLancia independence!! ill have to give it a try. i saw another guy doin that on youtube but he wouldnt go back to the R hand R foot always L hand lead..toms sound killer too btw
Wait...... I had no idea Dallas played drums.. I had to look this up.. If he was playing this then i'd say he's the same level as Kollias... o.O... If Kollias left i'm sure Dallas could record the drums, lol.
@MikeAsHimself Dallas started out as a drummer and if he focused on that he would be on the level of Kollias. However, keep in mind that there is some studio magic on this album. It was a session gig for Dallas and they had to work around time constraints. He still put some great ideas on the record, his drumming style has definitely influenced my playing.
Wow, that's pretty sick. A lot of remembering everywhere... Seeing that there's so many things to do, do you sometimes improvise some fills/parts when you play the song?
@DukeNico I try my best to play the songs as accurately as possible to the original recordings. In this particular song, there is very little room for improv'ing with all the stops and starts. With the more straightforward songs off AoMhP I have a bit more freedom with cymbal accents and fills. Search "lecherous nocturne whorrified" to find a live video with dallas
Sick open handed playing... are you naturally lefty, or?

@goatskindreams Good observation, I was a bit tired. It helps to practice at a disadvantage because that will prepare you for playing on the road.
