  • A goofy band singing goofy songs and acting goofy while having a lot of fun.

    What's not to like?

  • #1 on October 29th 1982

  • I get it now....this song is about a kid trying to buy condoms.

  • @jongriffinblues Oh my god really?!? I had no idea! Now I see it!

  • 6ALMAS!!!

  • No one cares what tv show brought you here, just shut up and enjoy the music.

  • This was my personal favourite. "Our House" was good, but this was better. "One Step Beyond" is also a classic trip.

  • I had no idea what this song was about until recently. LOL

  • The Young One's brought you here, didn't they!?

  • @JacobTheRedWolf Yup! They sure did!! :D

  • there was a time when british music didnt suck

  • The original version didn't fade out at the end. There was an impromptu clip of a carousel organ playing a few bars of "Carolina in the Morning", which then faded out. The snippet was played backwards, but was still identifiable even so as being taken from the 1978 Columbia LP "Sidewalks of New York", which was an album of the only known existing Wurlitzer style 164 Band Organ. Evidently Columbia Records found out and were not pleased, as now all subsequent versions of this recording fade early.

  • God they surely know how to dance properly

  • I got ere for the good music :|

  • the young ones brought me here, and i'm glad they did. They're level in radness.

  • @TheRightShip Have you got any lentils?

  • When I was just a tot,I used to love trying to do their goofy dances.Madness vids always sent joy to my heart.

  • i want an armchair car!

  • I'm guessing most people here don't understand that he's trying to buy condoms... so funny with all the comments being about random stuff barely even associated with anything but the lyrics not the meaning of the songXD

  • very crappy quality but very nice song!

  • I watched this on animal planet did you

  • 1:25 Green Man?

  • Damn, I had the worst crush on the lead singer when I was a kid. I still think he's hawt.

  • I had watched this a year ago and liked so I wanted to listen to it again, but most of the lyrics and the name of the band escaped me so I ended up searching "british roller coaster music video condom" which yielded this as the top result. +1 for the Internet.

  • respect from Holland

  • SHUT UP AND ENJOY THE MUSIC!

    ╭∩╮(︶︿︶)╭∩╮

  • Only Madness could make a catchy song about buying condoms. XD

  • חחחחחחחחח לייק יא חתיך <3

  • Madness, pretty accurate band name

  • My cousin's 16 today. For some reason I thought of this....

  • @stavyros ,i rest my case.Where.There

  • @Slaya0Zombies1243 ,one step beyond.I see ya thar

  • I love the dance they do 0:50 to 1:02 hahahaha

  • this is fuckin magic, so far from a classic two-tone or first/second wave ska, but yet so great!. Madness is an english institution, they shuold have gained a lot of prizes and should have worked with Monty Python.

The only band that on the edge between underground and pop, pushed it over the limit, simply amazin'!

  • This song is SCARY!

  • ahh the birth of ska punk ;)

  • @s8n333x2 ,what about the Specials."This town ahaaaaa........".or, Fun Boy Three"The Lunatics."No nuclear the cowboy told us

And who am i to disagree

'Cos when the madman flips the switch

The nuclear will go for me"

  • the fun starts at 0:51 when they start dancing in the store.

  • My GF said my latnet English accent gets a lot stronger when I sing along.

  • Ha...I cant believe noone made this joke yet... Oh well...THIS IS MINE NOW

Madness....THIS IS fun :D xD or Justin Bieber...THIS IS MADNESS !! AND I LOVE IT

  • Madness! Ich liebe es! Das beste!

  • 59 people don't know how to dance.

  • The song is about a 16 year trying to buy condoms.

He is using metaphors and colloquollisms to try and get his point across to the shopkeeper, but, he is embarssed and is getting interrupted by folks that he knows who are stopping inot the shop to buy things.

    Listen to the words.

It's about growing up and having fun with sex!

  • @harpo103 thanks!!! i'm pushing 40, so this song has a history for me, but i never knew that!

  • @harpo103 In my opinion this song is more about a whorehouse.... Welcome to the house of fun now I've come of age, he is 16 and he is going to get some bitches... But it's true that in this video they are in some kind of shop which doesn't make any sense, in any case sex is not always fun, so many nasty consequences

  • @BlackSkyThunder Yeah, so many nasty sexually transmited deceases as well... like pregnancy.

That happended to a girlfriend once, the docters tried very hard to remove the tumor, luckily it wasn't malicious.

  • @Meansofviewing I don't understand what's the tumor you're referring to

  • @BlackSkyThunder I believe fetus is the name for the tumor tissue.

  • @Meansofviewing Yes, it's true; in some cases a fetus can be a tumor and when he is born is a cancer in the world; in fact, you are a clear case of it; your mother should have thought about it; you are a legal killer man from the XXIst century and you seem to be extremely proud of it,

  • @Meansofviewing You're repugnant

  • @BlackSkyThunder

Repulsive would be a better description.

  • Comment removed

  • @harpo103 Heh, i will be embarassed too, if when i ask for controceptive and a bottle of beer whole shop crew and people inside start dancing around me and doing mad things :D

    Great video and lyrics.

  • This song is about prescription drug abuse. Genius.

  • How cool're those horns...especially at the start in the shop!!!

  • The video's madness!

  • if anyone come into my home, i say "welcome to the house of fun" :'D

this song is awesome & this band too !

    i like the band's name :3

  • @crusher540 Same here, the songs great, the shows fantastic.

  • @crusher540 thumbs up if you bob up and down when listening to this

  • This band formed in 1976 believe it or not, and they are still around and have a new album coming out soon.

  • One of their best songs in one of the scariest clips I've seen.

  • 2:19 - 2:34 what rollercoaster is that? =P

  • dont care what other people say, i care what ska say

  • Uke arrangement for this great song is now up at scorpexdotnet/Uke. Go on....have a go at it!

  • Suggs is sooooo cute!!!!!!! :)

  • Oh so much fun :D

  • I wonder what they are singing about . I just wonder ...LOL oh well off to buy condoms for some strange reason . I just felt the urge too.

  • And I right - I seem to remember the band playing this song on the comedy show, The Young Ones..in the 80's.

  • De loin le meilleur groupe de ska de tous les temps !

  • i love madness true brittish stuff none off the american rubbish

  • check "sunny weather" on my page for the 2011 version of madness!!

  • Is it sad to listen to Madness? Who are we to judge?

All we can say for certain is that when the world ends Jesus and/or Mohammed will kick fuck out of anyone who can't mime the sax parts from One Step Beyond or Night Boat to Cairo.

  • One of their best! :)

  • @shawze94 HAHA

  • I wish everyone could be as positive as these lads! This is nothing but a musical Monty Python. I love it. Reminds me of carefree adolescence...But that's not the only thing: music and their antics are STILL working.
