I'm not trying to be racist at all, but why isn't Aida Black. She's from nubia. Did you guys not have the make-up for that? Just wondering. It's that bad though. You have a very nice voice!
Stereotypically, Egyptians are white, mostly because of their advanced civilization, and people a hundred years ago associated with power and advancement with being white. As a matter of fact, Egyptians are actually black, and if not that, they have the skin tone of someone from the Middle East at its lightest. They're practically on top of the equator, which the heat and light there makes skin darker, so the stereotype really makes no sense.
I suppose, but it's not just Broadway that enhances the stereotype, but just everyone and everything. Even the museums portray Egyptians as white sometimes, which is a rather sad thing. I've seen very few documentations when they kept Egyptians as their historically black skin color. By the way, this isn't like a black power thing for me; I'm actually one of the palest white skin tones you can get aside from albino, hehe. Ironic that I'm cast as a NUBIAN in my school's Aida this year... lol
I completely understand. I am one of the whitest perople you will ever meet. That's awesome that you're doing Aida!I wish my school would do it but unfortunately we are not big enough. =(
its kinda awkward to paint a white girl black... it's better that they didnt cuz it would have made it really strange looking and people would have been insulted i'm sure
Not bad for a highschool production but I agree, still kinda ackward in this scene which requires alot of emotion..but that comes with concentration and expriences. I did this show not long ago at my college and our leads ( despite the fact at that by the time the show ended they hated each other even more, lol) did a good job, but again that comes with expreince of the stage. Even they were kinda wierd about it too. But nevertheless, good work! :)
i am not trying to be rude but neither of them have powerful voices and they are very boring and pitchy you can haer them both mess up a couple of times. i have heard better there are none on youtube but university high school in florida did a much better job with this play and they may have pretty voices but it takes more than that to be a good singer
Eh, the broadway God much once more cut this video down to size. Actually major kudos to the female lead. Wonderful voice. Alot of power and passion behind it. As for the guy in the film. Bring in the understudy!! Although your voice is great you are still unsure of yourself on stage. Typical robotic high school stage presence. You have alot of potential. As for the guy....hopefully he has book smarts, cause he definately has no business being on stage.
I am amazed at the performance put on by your high school. Every clip I have watched has been just as good as the original cast. I am truely blown away. You and Aida rock and Amneris sounds exaclty like the original.
Oooomyyyygooood!!! My friend I can tell you you have a golden voice. I´m sitting here right now and crying. I have never ever heard such a beautiful male voice before. Standing ovation!!! You are very very gifted. I´m a singer too and I know how strong is this song. I think I am a fan of you from this moment on =))))
I'm singing this song with a friend of mine and I must say that I love it! You guys did a very good job for a high school production. Now, off to watch part two.
This has to be my fav! I've have this memorized. I actually have all of them memorizes. Ready to sing in the shower! But I don't sound as good as you two. Wish I saw you both lives. (If possible) you sounded even better
Very strong voices. Pretty awesome for a high school production.

Then why isn't Radames black either?

there was no chemistry, which kinda kills the mood for the song. the emotions seem really contrived.
