Nice melody, It sounds like a zelda type thing. I find that both lydian and dorian both work really well for zelda type things.

Great vid. come up with melodies using this method as well as using the syllables of any random sentence as the rythm and shifting the notes until I hear something I like...then i record it to a tape recorder

If I understand you correctly, you take the rhythm of a random sentence and use that as the rhythm for your melody? Is that what you meant?

Yes. Exactly. One day I couldn't find my keys. and of course I said "Where the hell my Keys At?" (terrible grammer, I know) But I came up with a really catchy melody for a southern HipHop track starting from the syllables from that sentence.. . I ended up getting a licensed placement on an MTV episode with that beat.
