it should be pretty obvious from these videos that high guard positions are superior. in addition it should also be noted that high foining is extremely effective. it is reasonable to suppose that use of the weapon mainly from horseback also influenced prevalence of high to low technique. a careful look at the bayeaux tapestry shows techniques here are consistent with 11th-12th century fighting
