@Shieket he din died really. he claimed frostmourne at northend to kill malganis at the cost of the life of muradin bronzebeard. and then after completing his revenge, disappear at northend, went back to lodaeron, killed king terenas, his father. Then start to command the scourge(undead) to wipe of all the remaining forces that'll resist the burning legion. i played ROC campaign hundreds time. btw,the one who died is kel thuzad, died as necromancer and arthas revived him as Lich (not lich king).

@Shieket furthermore, he was a death knight when wiping lordaeron, which is before he combine with lich king.
his change would be paladin (hammer)---> paladin (frostmourne) ---> death knight(frostmourne)-->lich king
