@liveworkplayvideo Our Dads & Granddads fought two world wars so Canadians would not have to fear abuse in a police state. Now it seems like they fought for nothing. The RCMP slaughtered a man in an airport, shot him with 50,000 volts five times--and some yuppie in the Crown Attorney's office blinked--because they got away with it. 19 thousand cops beat up over a 1000 citizens at the G20 in Toronto & they got away with it. Yes indeed. This song should be on the radio & played every day.
I remember hearing many stories about the CBE many times back in the 80's and 90's (even a couple times on the news but of course the cops denied the existence of the CBE or anything like it, naturally), but now we just have them tasering and beating the crap out of people routinely for simple non-compliance, or, in the case of the G20 assaults last year, for the cameras and Stephen Fucking Harper's nascent police state
LOL! I got a ride on the CBE one night. Party at a friends in the Beaches. Cops show up and walk in the door to tell us the party is over. I lay into them with "Do you have a warrant?" etc. I get hauled out to the car in cuffs for "obstruction". And as we're driving it dawns on me we're not headed back to the station. Anyway, they laid a beating on me, not too bad, but one of those 'Next time you don't lip off us to, punk' sorta beatings. And had to walk back to house. Man, times have changed.
@LeCutter haha yes, they certainly have .... cops here used to take the mouth pieces just out of town .. beat them, strip them and toss them in a pond. Too bad the kids nowadays are immune to that sorta thing ... might not have near as many attitude-laden fuktards wandering the streets ;)
@sysfixr Well yes and no. It's not like I was really being a dick so much as trying to excercise our Constituional rights which they soundly ignored. Don't get me wrong. I'm a firm a believer that anyone lipping off to anyone should get their comeuppance. But this shit was way out of line. That was a pure abuse of power, just because they could. And guys like that shouldn't be cops. Face it, they're just not the good guys, but thugs with badges.
@bobbie4 "I never dreamed it would be like this". Sadly...many of us believe it only too well. No different up here in York Region..."Deeds Speak" indeed.
@sysfixr: Naturally, I would have assumed it was either the GTA or somewhere within the province, with exception to the morphology of the where the sun and moon were rising and setting. Plus, I hadn't thought this was Ontario, given how little to no snow had fallen in the Toronto this past winter -- up through January, at least.
For what it's worth, I've lived in both the GTA and the Montréal CMM. Thanks for clearing that up! :)
This is about Canadian police brutality, if anyone doesn't know.
