I can understand a newcomer to Tool not understanding them live. Wondering why they aren't like other bands, showing the singer front and center, under spot lights. Maynard has always said his vocals are merely an element, among many others, in their songs. He said if you focus on him alone, you lose the feeling of the song. That is why he his in the background, often "hidden" almost.
@DiamondDJandSound that's beautiful about what Maynard said about his part in their music. he accomplishes that perfectly, just like they all do. i think it's epic Maynard blends into the shadows on stage. TOOL is soo fucking good.
I was in the second row for this tour, and it might sound crazy but I kinda wish I hadnt been, the whole time I had no idea there were projections on the stage because we were too close to see them. The latest tour was by far the best, in the 10 or so times ive seen them live it was the first time id ever heard them play Third Eye, and it was well worth the wait.
Yes. I was there and Jacksonville the next show. I almost shit because I had been looking at the prior playlists. They did Right In Two in Jacksonville which was great. I couldn't make it to Tampa, i was pissed when I saw they had done The Pot. Push It is my favorite TOOL song so I can't complain. I had eaten a musroom bean casserole and my girlfriend said, "I hope they play Push It". I said don't get your hopes up when Adam broke into it like he could hear me, trippy. ORL, very lucky!
Sorry u asked a year ago but yes this was in Orlando. I was there and my girlfriend said she wanted them to play it. I told her there was no way cuz I saw the previous setlists. We went crazy when it started, Orlando was the only city to get it I think.
they were great in san antone and corpus... each show had a 20min long lateralus with pat mastellotto and trey gunn.. good stuff.. plus the intro to the san antonio show with danny and the sling was great
every song has a meaning.MJK just has this beautiful voice! that wow! i cant even describe it.he can sing anything!his story fascinates me so much.he has a gift like no other.every song is awesome and they hit me so hard. i so wish one day i get to see them live when they go on tour again!i swear ill die there!ill be there for sure =]
anyone know how they get the image on the stage floor? they hardly have a giant screen for a stage and it done look like its projected on, from above anyway
the image on the floor is projected down onto a white canvas thats draped across the whole stage. the white canvas acts like a projector screen basically.
My girlfriend just got done saying, "I wish they would play push it"! I told her that there was no way they were going to because I had been looking at the previous playlists. Two seconds later Adam starts the riff and I almost shat myself! Thank you TOOL for always bringing it when you play Orlando! Best band ever, live or studio and it's not even close...
the intro wasnt bad or anything its just another 2-3 minutes so then he wouldve had to make another part that was like 2 min long instead of just posting the whole song.
i am an avid TOOL fan. i have my own interpretation of this song. This one is my favorite! Please share Your take on this song. i am curious to know what You think. Thanks.
Well for one thing its definately my favorite song of the 90s by tool no doubt. All of the songs that they make that are lengthy I truely enjoy more than any others. Thats why my favorite album is lateralus because of the length of each song and the effects they have on their style. Their style is amazing and this song proves the in depth skill they have in making fantastic music. When I listen to this song its almost like I'm in another world..no one but tool has done that for me.
I agree Lateralus is one of my favorites as well! I can get lost in TOOL for hours, but what is your interpretation of this actual song? I have my own, but was just curious to see if anyone else shared my point of view. If you have time. Thanks!
My take on this song...its like a journey in my eyes. In the beginning I can picture someone walking through a long journey, and theres a tough life this person is experiencing. It sets me in another world it really does. This is truely one of their greater works and they experiment with so many different sounds and techniques it really amazes me the talent that each musician holds.
See I may listen to a TOOL song, and think "I finally realized the meaning of this song", but there are so many ways that people can interpret their songs. You can kind of "mold" the songs to whatever is going on in your life "at that moment."
Yea tool is really the only band that could make someone cry AND make you want to rip someones head off at the same time in the same song haha but seriously..they have a style like no other. They are truely a great band that we have the pleasure of experiencing and listening to.
favorite...wow..thats like asking a monkey what his favorite banana is..but i can give you my favorite(s) off of every album. I will tell you that I do like more of their popular songs like the Pot and Vicarious and Schism etc. but There are many more that give the greatness of a true tool song. Opitae: Jerk-Off and Hush, Undertow: Flood and Bottom, AEnima: Pushit and Third Eye, Lateralis: Ticks & Leeches The Grudge, Triad and The Patient. 10,000 Days Right in two 10000 Days and Rosetta Stoned.
This song live is unbelievable. They busted it out of nowhere in Duluth, GA and it sounded awesome. It was strange, on their 07 tour there were a lot of complaints that the vocal mix was too low at a lot of shows. But at every show they played Pushit the vocals were apparently much better throughout the whole show. Wonder why they played it at certain venues and what they based it on? Maynards voice that day? crowd behavior? Venue?
I would have shat a brick if they would have played this when I saw them May 19th. My favorite Tool Song by far, just so so amazing. "If when I say I might fade like a sigh if I staaaaaay.' 'You minimize my movement anyyywayyy.' 'I must persuade you another wayyyyyy." Beautiful.
Saw them in Tampa two days before this, then saw this show, and at Bonnaroo. Orlando was the only Pushit. My favorite song from Aenima! I freakin blew a load here!!!
man i wish they would have played this at the shows i went to I never got the chance to hear aenema and pushit got the pot tho so that was awsome took 3 shows that i went to til they broke that out lol but w/e they are by far the best band ever in my opinion.
i dont remember what song it was, but when he played at the gorge there was a giant eye projected on the stage that looked around at the audience, its was awesome!
