@308Sharpie reasonable force my ass, u cant even throw a punch at someone unless they are actuly trying to kill you. the only real thing u can do is try to pin them down untill police arrive. police here are useless waste of tax money.
@AngerDango That's what the laws say, but recent cases have demonstrated the police want that removed from our rights (Ian Thomson, who shot AT 3 men throwing Molotov Cocktails at his house. David Chen who restrained a shoplifter and called police) They consider it "vigilantism" and "taking the law into our own hands"
Regardless, I would rather be judged by 12 of my peers than carried by 6 of my friends
Typical RCMP response. "Call the police, and we'll take the appropriate action." Of course, by the time they get there, the appropriate action may be doing a murder investigation after you are killed by intruders.
If this was in some U.S. states, he could have killed them and he would not have been charged with anything.
Now when the "ongoing investigation" is no longer "before the courts," do you suppose the RCMP will have the balls to comment then? Oh no! Of course not! The standard reply will be, "We believe that the justice system has acted in accordance with the rule of law. We cannot comment on the decision of a justice other than to say that we will abide by and respect the ruling." In other words, "We will never explain ourselves or tell you who's nose got out of joint over this or who is responsible."
You'll notice the police that attended the scene did NOT arrest anyone but the delinquint asshats. The fact that RCMP officers showed up A WEEK LATER smells suspiciously like an upper echelon move. This was a political arrest, pure and simple. Regular front line police don't think this way. The problem is trying to figure out who the hell is responsible for deciding charges needed to be laid. That person will always be hidden by bureaucracy and "can't comment on an ongoing investigation."
"possession of a weapon for a purpose dangerous to public peace?!?!". Protecting your life, the lives of your family and neighbors is dangerous to public peace? Canada is fucked. I hate the French fagot cop too. He talks like those guys knew exactly if the intruders were armed and what their intentions were. Now, I'm trying to see it the way of the french canadain pussy-ass cop, but i just cant seem to get my head that far up my ass.
That's the most ridiculus thing i've ever seen. If that happened to me (here in Tennessee, US), the cops would have said "Are you stupid, why didn't you have it loaded?" and that would have been the end of it. You guys just need to move down here with us, and we should send all these yellow liberal jerks up there, so they can have their gun free zones and free healthcare.
@wigdomeitsallthesame Very good, young Jedi. You have been studying, haven't you? These clowns will not have free reign much longer. And the more they try to resist, and refuse to act a PEACE OFFICERS, the more painful the purge will be when it comes.
The peices of shit that are responsible for this should be shot in the head. The cops that laid the charges, the crown attorney that is proceeding with the charges and the politicians that passed the laws taking away peoples rights.
They should all be shot in the head.
But as that isn't going to happen, this guy should sue the shit out of every piece of shit involved. He should get millions.
The police should be in prison for bringing this charge in the first place!
It's private property he can defend himself under Common Law and the Magna Carte which are the basis of Canadian Law!
If someone breaks into my home I doubt their plan is to tuck my kids into bed and in the "reasonable amount of time to respond" that the police have we could be dead already!
Typical...... You have no rights to protection. Also, the police are protected by the "reasonable amount of time to respond" clause even if your family end up hurt or dead. Firearms in Canada for private citizens are for target shooting only. Nothing Else. You can NOT use them for self defense or you are criminally liable. You do not have a right to protect your property because you have no property. Legally in Canada you never truly own your land....
Charge him with "possession of a weapon for purposes of selfdefense". Selfdefense is by definition not a dangerous purpose, its a reaction TO someone engaged in a dangerous action against your person.
IMO the beliefs of the Canadian public are completely different to that of our leadership on this one, the laws need to be changed so criminals are treated like criminals rather than good just people being treated like criminals instead.
Why else would you have a weapon if not for a dangerous purpose?? Its not like we use them to plant daisies. They are either for hunting or protection or both....am I missing something? This shiot is really getting ridiculous.
funny. if you have a badge, you can shoot someone for any reason and just say "i thought he had a gun." without a badge, you take appropriate procautions and get arrested. this is coming to a dictatorship near you.
this is how they get around the constitution, and around the right to bear arms. you can have a gun, but if you even use an UNLOADED weapon to restore order to a criminal situation, YOU WILL BE TREATED AS A CRIMINAL.
you have the right to own a gun. so what? you dont have the right to protect yourself with it - you dont even have the right to PRETEND to protect youself with it!
For defending his home from people that were dangerous to the public, this man faces a charge of "possession of a weapon for a purpose dangerous to public peace"??? When one gets to the point of fearing the RCMP as much as the criminals, the government must be replaced.
Is it even possible to imagine the RCMP having any more audacity and gall in charging someone for using WELL BELOW the standard of "reasonable force" under our common law, particularly with the recent history of blatantly UNLAWFUL uses they have swept under the rug by their own members? We need to dump this force into the trash and start over. Enough is enough.
@mike6291 These guys think people don't have the right to protect themselves and their familys, well they do and the RCMP scum can drop dead, people should keep their asses right out of town...shut them down...
This is the stuff that revolutions are made of. When government no longer becomes a defender of our inherent and Constitutionally enshrined rights, they become illegitimate. Infringement of a right (such as defending yourself lawfully, or possessing weapons for such) is an assault, and you ALWAYS have a lawful right to use reasonable force to prevent an assault - whether it comes from an individual or a government and/or their employee makes no difference in the law.
Run away,, then Call us and we'll take the apporopriate action. Might work for them, doesn't always work for us! and what if the cops are hours away? These two men might even have more firearms training than the police who took the call. I strongly think that everyone has the right to defend themselves and if you have a licence to own it and use it,then Its going to Court anyway let the Judge be the one to decide on who did the right thing thats his job.Get on with the real issue, the criminals!
Maybe we need a few more people standing with Remington shotguns to say...Enough is enough. A good man who used an unloaded shotgun to make a statement that he wasn't going to be harassed in his own house. How evil can that be? This is over the top and needs to be reexamined.
Having personal firearms be it pistol or rifle is not a crime. The person that breaks into your house to rob you or perhaps worse; is a crime. What is wrong with defending yourself against thugs. Criminals don't register their firearms. Period. Canada cannot become the last Australia where (subjects) cannot even own a .22 rimfire semi auto rifle without going through government hell. I am sick of it.
@Rensune I guess even they knew the public would see through their crap if they said 'unlawful purpose', when he was clearly acting within the law, so they threw out this nonsense to cover their turd.
@mike6291 This is totally outragous, the bloody RCMP scum need to get a good ass kicking, if I was that guy I would sue the RCMP and city hall for failing to do their duty as peace officers to round up all the criminals damaging property as it was said crime out of cotrol, the starange part is the RCMP let drug lords into canada for pay off's...Start your own police force
that's fucked up shit, what are people supposed to do just sit back while criminals do what they want??

What a great way to remember our vetrans. Strip them of their rights and make an example out of them.
You know they fought so that they could hire people to do things (aka by proxy) and not be allowed to do it themselves.
If defending Life was unlawful, it wouldnt be legalized because you cant legalize an unlawful practice.
And in Law, what you can do by Proxy you can do Directly. And you don't need to hire a Lier to defened your actions.
