No matter who records this song, it always sounds awesome, YMO, Eric Clapton, Greg Phillinganes, Human League and MJ. Each has its own unique flavour. I love the Clapton guitar solo, but my fave is the MJ version.

Ryuichi covered this specific version MJ created when Quincy Jones asked him to make a version of this song. So, his band originally created this song, MJ made his version, the keyboardist from YMO covered it, and McClain released MJ's version in 2010.
