Having just finished watching "Duel in the Sun," starring the recently departed Jennifer Jones, I came to this conclusion. But for the race prejudice of the day, the role of Pearl Chavez could easily have been played by Dandridge, since the tropical makeup used on Jones made many closeups of Jones resemble Dandridge, what with Dandridge's signature part down the middle, with cascading long tresses to the both sides of the face. So yes, belianis, she did indeed come too soon!
