What are you talking about? The only ones that resulted in any real injury was the KO on Boulerice, and the Stevens hit on Lindros. And Boulerice only ended up with a few facial fractures which are far from "serious injuries." Most of these plays resulted in hurt pride and some bruises at most. Don't be such a drama queen, this is hockey. If you had ever played at any elite level, perhaps you would understand the game a bit more. Hockey doesn't need anymore casual fans whining!

Again, you are missing the understanding of the game. Yes, professional sports are a business and they need to provide the product people are willing to buy in order to sudcceed. However, forwards are taught at an early age to keep their heads up for this very reason. You are taught to catch a guy with his head down and seperate him from the puck. You can only bend so far, before you lose your core fanbase. Gary Bettman is dangerously close to this, with no growth to show for it.
