@HitchHikersBlues I hope in 25 years I don't look at the past with rose-colored glasses and act like mainstream music from my youth is somehow "real music" while everything in the present is total shit. @flyer176 Overplayed mid 80's dribble is not beautiful. Its disposable crap. Equal to anything on pop radio today. If you want good Heart start with anything off of Dreamboat Annie or Little Queen. Not this sell out crap. God you people are such hypocrites!
@Longhornzmatt sorry but listen to the lyrics. this is not sell out music in my opinion. If you want sell out music, listen to an artist named "Ke$ha". She sing talks, she can't sing to save her life yet somehow her song gets played every hour on the radio.
@flyer176 Heart radically changed their sound in 1985 for their self-titled album that came out that same year. The reason they did this is not for artistic reasons they wanted to be relevant again so they sold out. Look does Ke$ha suck yes of course she does, but my only point was that if you listen to the radio to find out about new music then expect to hear crap, but that doesn't mean all new artists suck! As far as Heart goes they went from kick ass rock music to proto Celine Dion ballads!
This generation is full of midless idiots who call themselves musicians. They need to take lessons from people like this!!!!!!! Then maybe they'd actually have some type of success and be remembered for something!!!!!!
@LedWilde exactly! they are definitely the ones to blame! They think music "must" evolve or esle it won't be popular. They've ruined everything! I guess it's stupid but music is such a huge part of me that it just makes me want to cry. Music is part of my soul and I wish songs like this and others from heart were still being made. The eighties music should never have ended.
@EdwardAddictOTD I noticed what happens into a new decade or even in the midst of a decade. They'll sign a band that is unique, the band sells, then the record companies say,"This bands sells and they are unique! Let's try sign 5000 other bands that sound just like them!" Then they focus too much on those bands, push them, then kids eat it up. What they should do is sign a band that is actually good reguardless of genre and leave out the cookie cutters. 00's was the worst decade ever.
@LedWilde totally and the other thing is that it's all so focused on sex. I mean seriously, are they trying to talk teen girls into or out of getting pregnant? The songs out there are just really cheap and boring and meaningless.
I heard Nancy actually had a cold when they recorded this, which led to the slightly raspy voice and crackle on the high notes. Very sexy voice. It's a shame Nancy didn't do lead more often. Ann is a rediculously good singer though. Both are beautiful women.
Music today is too sexual and it's more about the personal life than the music. It's not even music anyway these day's it's just noise. Take me backs to the 60's 70's and 80's anyday. 90's weren't too bad, but this century terrible.
The problem with this generation is that they don't know how to appreciate good, lovely songs like this one from Heart.I hate with a passion the kind of music that they release nowadays. They manipulate this generation to listen to their crap, especially rap crap or hip hop which can't sound as good as this song and other songs from the 80's.
All they promote is the gangstar lifestyle, violence and drugs. And yet they call their rubbish music?.Anyway, this song is really nifty!.
@boyjay4utube As a 24 year old, I must say that the "music" of today is horrendous............zero creativity, the same recycled garbage over and over...
@CollinMichael As a 31 year old, I agree. To me the creativity in music you are talking about died around 1998 or 1999. (I thought the 90's were good until then.) At that time Brittney Spears and "nu metal" came out and then we all know what kind of shit followed. Not to say there aren't any good bands out there now. It's just there's HARDLY any good bands now. In the mainstream at least.
I wasn't born during this decade of music, though I wish I had been. I love Heart and I love lyrics that MEAN something. What has happened to our generation?
I like how Ann and Nancy perform this song now live. They take away the synth and Nancy plays it on the madolin. I personally like that better than the original, but eiher way it's an awesome song.
man there's ninjas in this vid too... like bonnie tyler's Total Eclipse of the Heart.... xD maybe its one of those factors other than sexy raspy belting that made the 80s fuckin' rad.
Remember High school, I liked The Beastie Boys, Run Dmc, Kool Moe Dee, but this music and otherslike it were the soundtrack of life and the true is I love this stuff and I bet you like the rap of those days, thing is we are all suffering the music of today. what they hell happened
@Dirtfire no these lyrics are not deep. Heart sold out during this period. Look pal I'm 25 and this song clearly can't hold a candle to anything off of Dreamboat Annie. Please when I think of Heart I think of badass songs like Barracuda not this mid 80's dribble.
@Dirtfire *and to other comments like it* What's funny is I remember my parents saying the same thing about the 80s (that the 70s and or the 60s had been better, had more heart, was more thoughtful etc.). I'm not convinced we're on a continuous spiral down. Kids today will be saying the same thing about new music in 15 years time. Count on it.
Even so... I miss the 80s for all the good stuff going on then. But there were serious problems too (and just as much crap music, we tend to forget).
Yep, the 1980's had a spirit all its own. That just doesn't exist in this generation. Current artists simply cannot sing like this. They don't have the Heart, no pun intended.
Oh Pul_eeze...the 80s absolutely frikkin sucked..clothes..music..everything, complete tat.
