@LamentingHarlot I had a similar experience, i remember watching this on a film projector in elementary school, and it is one of my favorite stories. To this day i look at the Sun differently because of this film. Im glad you found it after all these years.

When I was in third grade, just 8 years old, I vividly recall watching this short film in class. It had such an impact on me that it's stuck with me to this day; at the age of 35 .I've never had luck finding it til now. I remembered it being called "Forever in a Day," then I thought it might be called "Forever in an Hour," - then last night while I was drifting off to sleep I thought to myself.. perhaps it could have been called "Summer in a Day?" And now -27 years later; I've found it :D

So I just looked it up; of the top ten rainiest cities, all of them are in the Southeast, and four of them are in the "Sunshine State", including my hometown of Miami. And yet I've never heard people whine about the weather as much as in the Pacific Northwest.

You guys should be happy you have four distinct seasons and a mild winter; I didn't see snow or seasons changing until I was in my 20s.
