hi um.... where to start...ok i have the same battery type as u but getting a little board with trying to cut the battery open i used a mallet and chisel , there was a pop, a small burst of smoke and it smelled like a party popper. i put it back into my psp and it works fine... will it still be ok for the next stages

Some people don't have custom firmware or they have a new psp that disables soft modding so they can't without the battery service tool.

I did not even remove the cover of the battery apart.

I was just trying to remove and put the screw driver through, I slid it along the corner, It wouldn't go anymore so I forced it in, and smoke came out

And now there is some smell coming from the battery

Sorry bro, i'm not feeling ya. UMD is the disk, psp's modded or not can always play disks. When you play a "backup" its always in a iso or cos format which is played from your memory card. Did that straighten things out for you?

Thanks. i think ill be set. By the way if you hardmod the 2400 battery its basically hardmodding the 1800 original by pulling the same pin right. the motherboard layout should be the same. And do you have any advice on how to open the 2400 battery?

Sorry, I can't say what the newer batteries are like.

My best advice to you is firstly, modding is for people who can afford to make mistakes, and the naturally inquizative. Otherwise check your classifieds, as I Keep on saying, there are tonnes of kids out there that will mod it for $20.

Yo, A weeks ago I hacked my PSP for the first time.

one more thing, I use my origenle PSP Battery and turn it to A Pandora Battery and my New one that black and Gold same as yours, I use that to play Games and what so ever.

ok i bought a new battery 2200mAh and i had my original since about 2006(late) and i made a pandora with my original battery, so u can stilll use your original battery to make a as a pandora, it works perfectly fine and iv modded alot fo psp's

Do you want it for modding or playing? Sounds like it may be a copy/fake probably a waste of money. Try to stick with known entites. Experimentaion is for the rich or curious, not the cheap.

The newer ones a much harder to take apart, you have to be an extreamly patient person. DON"T RUSH IT. I used a box cutter blade, I guess I used more of a scratching technique then a cutting technique to separate the two halves. I also put tape on the entire circuit board to prevent shorting the battery out. I hear a lot of internet chat about people doing this redering them useless, I personaly think these accounts a been grossly exaggerated.
