  • mm.. i also make these except I put the onions at the top of the pot rather than the middle to avoid the onions getting squashed. The onion shells are very delicate so use this tip for next time - by the way they look delicious.

  • @KautharThalaba , Thanks for your comment. I put them in the middle for a good reason. I like them squishy! they do hold their shape but in a squashed way :) also, the rice inside them gets really cooked to the point where it becomes sticky, absorbed with flavors especially when you use short grain rice. also my family likes it this way :)

thanks for your tip. and yes, they were very delicious!

  • Mmm...so good! Count on the Middle Easterners to come up with wonderful vegetarian dishes!

  • @schnotzarella , Thank you for your sweet comment. glad you liked the recipe.

  • This is also called dolma and you can also add tomato puree to the mix

  • @kurdes2 thanks for the information, i appreciate it.

  • @cookingtheeasyway the Iraqi way, we don't boil the onions, we peel the onion layers from the inside not outside as you did. the onions go on the bottom of the pan so when they are cooked they get caramelized

  • @Thunder777m , Thanks for the information! I have never seen an Iraqi cooking stuffed onions..this is how i developed this way to cook it and it works out for me. but i will try to put them in the bottom, i like the idea of the onions becoming caramelized..they must taste heavenly! Thanks for coming by, watching and leaving a comment.
