  • As much I do love Mao Asada as my second favorite Japanese figure skater, I could count Alissa in as a second favorite American figure skater, and placing Sasha in first. Had Sasha and Alissa both fallen less, they would have been the most successful figure skaters ever. However, I do believe that like Sasha, who fully redeemed herself when not competing, Alissa could do the same by following Sasha's example . Go Alissa!!!!!

  • Why do you guys hate Tara Lipinski? She was a really good skater. She retired after she won the gold, so what? Her parents had been kept apart for five years, she didn't really know her father, and going pro she could have fun with skating and not so much stress with competing. And the old "Lipinksi vs. Kwan" thing, let it go. They both skated clean, perfect programs, but Tara's was more difficult so she deserved to win, that was the tiebreaker for two amazing skaters.

  • I find it so hard to listen to American commentators. They vomit a bunch of information at you, thereby making it impossible to enjoy the actual performance. The Brits who cover skating for Eurosport are WAY better.

As for Alissa, it's too bad she had that fall on the lutz, because her skating is exquisite. She probably deserved bronze even with the fall! I have my fingers crossed that she'll be able to skate 2 clean programs at Worlds next year.

  • each year skating gets tougher

  • she was ROBBED.

  • Yuka Sata... stupid commentator.

  • @mraurora is that Yuka? I think that's Tara Lipinski... I hate her!

  • i love how the speakers think this stuff is so easy. i like to see them do it

  • @4asdb Ya! That's freakin Tara Lipinski! Ugh! I hate her so much!

  • i wished id could do figure skating :T

  • I love Alissa Czisny's skating. Her flexibility is quite phenomenal and her spins are glorious. I personally would favor Sasha Cohen over Alissa but she's a close second. I'm so proud of her though for not falling apart after the first fall. had she not fallen, she would have easily won the bronze.

  • She'll be back- this is the breakthrough she needed. She didn't finish her season like she wanted to I'm sure, but given the time I think she'll be a favorite come 2014.

  • ok, but i still think lucinda rue's spins a more graceful. she invents her own arm movements

  • Beautiful! Her spins are amazing!

  • i love alissa i dont care if she falls and stuff i just love her

  • i thought after sasha cohen i'd ever see someone as graceful and beautiful again. alissa proved me wrong

  • She should have gotten the bronze even with the fall

  • @anubethc45 I STRONGLY disagree with this. Stylistically, she is exceptional, and her spins are to die for. Kim is way faster, much better edges, can spin just as fast (though the positions aren't as exceptional), great presentation and much, Much, MUCH better jump technique. Mao, in her current state, I agree with. At her peak though, and if she gets back to that form, Asada still had better basics than Alissa.

Miki is about on par with Alissa, though a much better jumper.

  • @DarrenInCA I would not at all say Miki is on par with Alissa. Ando is more consistent, and her jumping is a little better, but everything else? Not at all. Ando's spins are slow and her positions are terrible. Her artistry is mediocre. Her lines and edges are not at all up to Alissa's. I think Miki Ando is an over-scored skater.

  • @sgjake21 i agree with you but i think miki's jumps are what makes her stay on top of the figure skating world. shes a power skater whereas alissa is an artistic skater. but i do think that miki's choreography and the level of difficulty in her jumps and consistency are what make her special. alissa may have better spins and spirals but miki still has artistry and her choreography and speed are alot better than alissa's. alissa just needs to put more difficulty & consistency in her programs

  • a long time skating and not a lot to show for it

  • @jerryj359travis two time US national champion, two time skate canada gold medalist, grand prix champion, one bronze medal at nationals, many other grand prix medals, and 5th at worlds this year... i'd say that's pretty well accomplished, even with her career being so up and down.

  • i like Lipinski's commentary. her voice carries well over the digital waves.

  • had she not fallen... EASILY a bronze medal.

  • WOW! Her spins and spirals are by far the best in the competition. Her style is like ballet. Her jumps are getting better but she did a great job after a hard season last year. Shows determination

  • =3
