  • Blimey, I can remember watching this. They were on a couple of weeks later with another singer

  • now

  • I have this on video at home and on vinyl too. They just don't make tunes like this anymore. Love it.

  • those fannies clappin all the way through spoil this !

  • mmmmm, sarah ? where did you go ?

  • @alice303 Whats her surname? I presume it's the singer you're talking about????

  • @Dectheboner no idea.

  • hype!

  • Give the lass a break least she sang live on this unlike your supposed big superstars like gaga and rhianna kudos too her love this song also :-)

  • I love her vocal, I get someone happy enjoying it and absolutely in that MOMENT, wonderful.

  • I love the vocals I love the spirit, where has it all gone !

  • Thumbs Up, and agree with nearly all the comments.

........ I was there,..... loved it, .......still do.

  • Gr8 song but her vocal is awful

  • @hhhaaazzziii I am pissed & i thought the same way before i even read your comment you get a thumbs up from me, she is fit but a shit singer.

  • @hhhaaazzziii I dont think you get it,it was meant to be 'off' a little and it really is hard to do it that way ,trust me,not a modern over produced, polished recording . peace !

  • @StaticAttackMUSIC I completely agree with this.

  • @hhhaaazzziii you would though :)

  • whish i was older only 17 now and i miss tunes like this

  • This chick, Saffron and the SL2 dancers. My wank material of choice in 1992.

  • Comment removed

  • Doesn't quite work on TOTP does it! Much better in a sweaty club!

  • why did i sell out ???????????

  • ahhhh i've still got this on a video from when i recorded it from top of the pops. i think 'bassheads - is anybody out there' was on the same one. i well fancied that random bird who's singing the lyrics. hahahaaaaa. singin' ain't up to much though. :/

  • Is that one of they asbestos guys on the keyboard?

  • great stuff but wtf didnt he put some leads out the back of his 808 to pretend he was playing live? shelleys

  • fek me i never knew how many oldskool tunes were on TOTP until seeing youtube lmfao,i never had time for tv i was out getting wankered lol.

  • I remember watching this TOTP it was the night of the UK premier of 'Michael Jackson's Black or White'

  • claudia simon?? okay ya fucking sloane ranger in a leather jacket

  • I've gone all tingly ;)

  • Ah,.... at college, just got first car and raving at Sterns every weekend. Not a care in the world!! Good times.

  • Shellys, Longton, Stoke On Trent, anybody in that era will remember what Altern 8 did or the generation in the 90's,awesome!!!!!!!!!!!

  • vicks raverub on the keyboard,

  • Just an awesome snapshot of my early teen years, thanks for the nostalgic ride bud!! Top One, Nice One Get Sorted!!!

  • You know I have been Musical for many years and, I never once noticed that she went a little flat in the singing until I read these comments? I don't think it spoiled anyones enjoyment of the performance. She is really young here and was bound to be a bit disorientated as the best of us are at times. She sings it well though and her voice is brilliant I think. Apart from a little Flat at a point her voice sounds nicer than the Record? Anyone agree? I miss her greatly X x

  • Anyone knw singers name she a hunny

  • The original sounds of Oldskool Hardcore rave music,1991 Hardcore you know the score :)

  • "Top one, nice one, get sorted" Back to the old school! Top class, quality choon! Thanx for the post!

  • What he hell, look at that crowd...It looks like an opera musical kind of crowd. If you play this now at parties, you'll see people with soothers massaging eachother, glow sticks and led lights, whistles and horns, wearing goggles and gas masks and crazy outfits . The hardcore crowd has changed since my time but still love the music and do the same moves as I did back then.

    Hardcore, You know The Score

  • me earliest recollection of totp and i was like 3 or 4 years old, love it more today than yesterday... full on mask hyseria !!!!!

  • Holy crap, that looks a little like Sarah Cracknell!

  • a-8 ,class at the time ,,i always thot the lass signing here looked completely out of place ,and very uncomfy specially at the start ,

  • Yeah nice catsuit, hmmm

  • A A A A A A A A Activate

  • 1:28 onwards sends shivers up my spine.

  • Who is the singer? Where is she now?

  • @Goodsinwoods i`ve wanted to know that for years,, mentioned it to a mate this morning - he knew her. damn it !!!

  • anyone remember the inspector morse when the rave went bad and the big inflatable pig went on fire? Message to youngsters - if u don`t like pork scratchings, don`t go to a rave. :-)

  • @cjmastablasta I recorded that and my friends and I would watch it on a comedown with some bongs of red seal and roll about laughing! "I mean I like a drink Lewis but these are drugs!"

  • @jamesknox64 Haha get mental in the fff..iinn ouse hic

  • nostalgic but still cool

  • quality upload mate......so funny watchin the totp clapping crew.....lets get mental in the house and clap like crazy!!!....

  • She's doing a gr8 job with the vocals!

  • and "ive got the key, ive got the secret"

  • Who remembers ace of base lol

  • haha brilliant.loved all this stuff.think it still sounds great today

  • At least she is singing live.

  • audio is not so great, but amazing snapshot of the time! It's kinda outrageous that BBC aired drug-infused stuff like this, but awesome!

  • Roland TR 808 and Korg Poly 61... i think.. =)

  • Quality Upload. Top effort. Hardcore U Know the Score!

  • Superb can't believe the BBC actually allowing this on prime time, purely drugs related. I was 18 at the time going out every weekend, think my parents must have thought what is the world coming to . Great to see ta for posting..

  • the stupid audience have no sense of rhythm, their clapping is way too fast.

  • top one nice one gets sorted!

oh yea back in the day!!

  • chandlerbingbong top comment her vocal is shit and yet the track was aired and yet now this true music state is far from published it is all tuned before it hits the masses back then this was the norm! awesome

  • loved this tune back in day, still sounds ace, love the string sample

  • please please always keep this video on here!!! thank you for the upload chandlerbingbong.. u da man!!!!

  • does it get any better?...

  • Blast from the past heh!!!! Top tunes but TOTP did never do them justice.....

Noddy suits and face masks, whistles and dummies....... but at least dance music kept going and helped set a bed rock for the Ibiza days ahead... at least the Prodigy kept going and still attract new followers...

  • I remember this on totp back in about November 1991...! I actually recorded it, and still have the VHS tape somewhere...

  • Seem to remember them slapping the chords out taking the piss I would remember!!

This was the start of it for me a couple of years after this I was Dreamscape ing etc.

  • Ok...ok.....I personally love altern 8 but Im a bit let down with the fact that the tr-808 I just saw was UNPLUGED.... ... .. Dont get me wrong,I understand its hard to bring out gear, but (Im not trying to sound high and mighty) I was playing live electronica shows around the same time, and Ill be dammed if I brought out that quality of gear without really plugging it in :( Rolling or not......

  • @fishefood i lot of people give out when they see bands/singers not sing live on totps but totps had a policy of not letting acts preform live! saying that see sound like she was singing live! as far as i know i think new order were the only band to do it!

  • @ellegreeko Nah, in TOTPs later days they scrapped the miming thing, although alot of acts still did it, i.e. manufactured pop twits, but most indie/rock acts chose to play live

  • "Hardcore, You know the score!"

  • what happened to dance music since this time? everything is just a sucky remix of a sucky radio song....

  • shame the chick can't sing for her break-fast...

  • @Amberol ''Cum wit mee too axeta-sayy-ah''...

  • @Amberol With a body like that fella she don't have to be able to sing!!! Ahh the whizz diet!! I had a strawberry for breakfast, a columbian shake for dinner a big f**k off bag of pills for lunch yummy!!

  • yeah, proper dance stuff, I loved the sample they used from the film nekromantic - very underground, I always wondered how many people picked that up lol

  • I can't believe people saw Altern8 live and stood there clapping!!! Dweebs! Get fukin ravin!!!!!!!

  • class tune :):):)

  • the girl singing is a hottie

  • Altern8 what the fuck were you thinking? TOTP stinks its not a place for techno legends such as you.

  • @NightStalker1958 THAT MUSIC NOT TECHNO MATE.. IS HARDCORE ..DICK

  • @ROMFORDDANNY this is old skool rave :-P

  • man i love it! its so toddler hahaaha, but dont get me wrong toddlin around is the best evaaaa!!!

  • Evapor-8 is a better song, but this is good.

  • mark archer - legend!! hes still producing some top notch tracks these days !!

  • eu amo o altern8 , isso sim é musica eletronica não essas merdas de hoje

  • If we had chavs back in the early 90s, THIS is the music they would be listening to!

IIRC, didnt they do another appearance on TOTP a couple of weeks later, but with a black girl on vocals?

  • @DarkAngel182 yeah they did and the black girl was the original singer.

  • that girl singing is HOT!

  • are you being serious?

  • Top one, nice one, get sorted!!

  • I love this track, but jeez the girl should have mimed this....she sounds like a dying cat up there.

  • I suspect it might be a sample clearance thing?

Sung live, you can't be done for uncleare samples

  • @gecko303 I liked the fact that EVERYONE mimed on top of the pops except Altern-8 and Shades of Rhythm. It was another big fuck off to the mainstream and I loved it.

  • @ajmarshal1

I love these tunes and was well into the rave scene when this broke, but the old punk groups used to fuck about when on TOTP,theres loads of vids of 70's groups messing about not miming and generally havin a laugh.

  • notice at 1:14 the nice tub of vicks vapour rub slipped onto the keyboard lol. quality. seen them live many times at very early raves as P.A's. love ya. xxx

  • classic altern 8 dancin like nutters when there drummachine int even wired in

  • wow - top of the pops and it is not mimed!! best music era ever

  • it is mimed

  • its not mimed

  • shes as fit as a fiddle, whats her name?THE POOR KNOW THE SCORE

  • She was really fit - I assume late thirties now though! These guys used to wear loads of PPE I think.

  • . . i remember i was a kid in dublin, this baby rocked the place . .

  • its a big shame you dont get eny desant dnace tunes in the charts now :( no its just lets take a tune and lets see how much cash we can make and call it a dance tune

  • DaveCrozz

You are so right man! Thanks for your words.

  • I can't believe i missed an acid house party live on bbc1!

  • They were BONKERS, but i liked them!

  • This is an all time classic Hardcore Anthem.

  • the singers a hunny

  • She is well hot!!!

  • @wreckthehoosejuice08 She sure is!

  • @wreckthehoosejuice08 well said, couldn't agree more. Awesome eh? x

  • @wreckthehoosejuice08

Pity she cant sing though !

  • I remember this period so well. Totp was full of dance acts...and I often wondered if the acts took E when they performed :-)

  • I think this period you mentioned was the best era for dance music. The charts were 'vibrant' unlike the shit that cloggs up the charts nowadays. old skool rulz

  • 100% correct

  • @chandlerbingbong I agree with you. The dance scene 'back in the day' had virtually no attitude involved with it. I had the massive pleasure of meeting Danny Rampling (Danny is my inspiration for becoming a DJ) on the Easter weekend and had a good chat with his manager and Ratpack's girlfriend who was there too and we were all in agreement that there was a lot more love back then.

By the way, RobDeManc, look up Gala - Freed From Desire as I'm sure she was on something when she performed :-)
