  • yeah trade in the leather for some spandex, that'll make a man out of ya. i guess you did say "man up and strap on", so that make sense.

  • Did he go the wrong way on the curve? It seems like he went too far on the outside, instead of following the nearest blocks on the lap area!

  • @davd1986 I'm not positive, but I believe that was intentional, because the blocks are marking the lanes. So in speed skating, one person might have the inside lane, and then you switch to the outside, so you even out. But there was that fellow in Vancouver 2010 that was in the lead, or closing, but took the wrong lane, which ended up being blocked off completely. Bummer.

  • The US men did very well in Vancouver but most Americans think of cross-country skiing as really boring.

  • Per Elofsson was the greatest skier ever! How he demolished all the dopers in Lähti 2001 was insane!

  • I think greatest skier ever is stretching it a bit. He was definitely one of the greats however. Greatest ever place goes to Bjørn Dæhlie. It would've been great seeing two awesome technical skier like Elofsson and Alsgaard compete more though. Those two boys had tremendous skating power.

  • @HattrickRocks

Indeed he was. Actualy he was THE worlds most greatest acording to hes splended tecnic both in skate and classic. To bad hes carieer was to end in sutch unlycky way , he could have been the world´s most great skiier.

  • @HattrickRocks It's LAHTI you moron.

  • @HattrickRocks No he was not... he was great, but Bjørn Dæhlie is the greatest skier of ALL TIME

  • It might, but try it, and you will find, it is one of the gratest sports... I learned it this winter, and it feels like a new born has just leant to walk, or run.

And yep, it is tiring, it is not really for guys, who usually sit before TV, chewing chips all their lives, but if someone wants to be healty, it is a better choice maybe than jogging. (it is still April... I'm waiting for December! :P)

  • here in norway we can ski all the year if we want to, up in the mountains : )

  • Good for you :)

If Norway wasn't such an expensive place I'd go there for a week for sure!

Now I'm training for the winter by bike.

  • agreed, it is very expensive.

  • Finland is much flatter than Norway, cheaper, and colder. And just plain better - but I would say that ;) I ski skate almost every day in the winter, and we have brilliant tracks here in Helsinki.

  • well, is it hard to get a Norwegian citizenship? :))) I would move there... Till then I'm praying for the snow here...

  • @shark750108 it maybe healthy for you but it's not healthy for the enviroment. Not when it involves packing your stuff in a car (most likely an SUV). Driving to and from the ski area all the while pollution comes out of your tailpipe plus you're supporting big oil. Most people that XC ski hardcore do this mutliple days a week. It's horrible for the enviroment. Running for your door has a much lower enviromental impact.

  • @TheSuperMotoHooligan <<<<<------ YOUR THE IDIOT WHO RIDES A MOTORCYCLE AROUND FOR FUN! Ride less and ski more if your that concerned about the environment. Every skier I know belongs to and some kind of environment protection organization. We love the beauty and tranquility of nature and our winters keep getting shorter and shorter because of your jackass hobby. So why don't you man up and strap on some skis?!

  • you sound fat and boring on top of it

  • of cource it it, when you are a fat lazy american who watch tv all day long, but if you are a scandinavian, who is in good health and can enjoy the nature, it is fun !!

  • I think I should change what I said. I'm a runner myself, I'm not like lazy americans. I hate the people in this country, they're all conformers, and they all believe whatever they're told.

What I meant by saying xc skiing is boring, is that skiing seems more like a sport made for speeding downhill, not pushing yourself on flat land.

I suppose that was a biased statement, though, because every time I try to skii flat land, I have to lift these clunky rental boots and skiis.

  • Brilliantes Skating! :p

  • He has really one of the best techniques.

  • So sad he retired fairly early.

  • It's easy to see that he has adopted the skating techique of Bjørn Dæhlie, the greatest x-country skier ever

  • Perfect...

  • no wasted motion sooo smooth thats tight

  • damn
