  • i just got a mxt 300. my sister works at whites so i got one from there. have found a few cool things in my back yard and a handfull of coins at a local park including 1 silver dime and 1 silver quarter. i am gonna try 4202civic tip about turning up the descriminator so i can stop digging so many pull tabs lol

  • @indianajohn11

Congrats! The more you use it, the more you'll love it! Atleast, that's how it was for me.

Those pull tabs get annoying after a while with the MXT 300. Just keep in mind that tuning out

the pull tab range can also very easily eliminate any chance at finding some gold rings. Which i'm sure you know...but that's why i'm hesitant to use heavy discrimination. Haha, I'll leave the hunting site wondering whether or not I walked over a ring or jewelery piece of some sort:).

  • It took me a year, many trips, and friends showing me how to use my MXT before I got to where I feel reasonably proficient with it. Those that are finding mostly trash is because that's what you are looking for. Turn the descrimination up and look only for the easy rewards, then when you get good at recognizing what the detector is telling you, turn the descrimination back down and look between the trash for the really good stuff.

  • @4202cvinc

Your comment is very true. I originally made this video as a demonstration for my English class for my presentation on Treasure Hunting. At the time, I was very new to the hobby and had only a few months experience with the detector. It does take a while to learn. The only reason I dig mostly everything is because pull tabs come up in the same range as some gold rings. The key is like you said to turn the discrimination back down and look between the trash for the good stuff:).

  • I bought a whites MXt the other day . Its my 1st Detector. I had found a Scabbard for a sword made of copper while I was deer hunting. This gave me the bug to buy one and search the area. I did find a minnie ball , 10 " axe head and a pocket knife in the area. So far I am happy with the MXT . I am a novice by far and I am learning as I go .I have found many 100 year old shot gun shells . Im going to hunt an area close that i think was a cannon site. Thanks for the Video

  • @Claretcross

Glad to hear your having fun with it:). It's a great detector by one of the best manufacturers in my opinion. Just keep digging. Your bound to find something nice sooner or later. That cannon site sounds interesting! Thanks for watching:).

  • @AdamMoto I grew up North of Vicksburg . I still deer hunt there. Grant had 70,000 troops when he besieged the city in 1863. The confederates had 40,000 troops. There are still a lot of relics in the area. Luckily I have access to a lot of areas.I found a .69 minie the other day that is a chunk of lead . A friend said they were called Flying Pumpkins by the Yankees !

  • @Claretcross

That's awesome that you have access to these historical sites! I know there are many places I'd love to hunt but am not allowed. Keep hunting that site:)! Relics carry the most history and there have to be a bunch left over from the troops.

  • @AdamMoto Had a great hunt Thursday. It was uneventful til I hit an old house site that was only marked by wild onions on a ridge deep in the woods . It was saturated with square nails. I finally am getting familiar with the discriminator . I dug up 5 , 3 ringer minie balls and 1 enfield minie. My buddy dug 2 minies , one being a Gardner and one Hoshkiss shell. I love this MXT.

  • 2:46 reminds me of an ex girlfriend. Great video! Thanks for sharing.

  • @NowLifeStarts

Nice man...real nice... lol. Thanks for watching.

  • @NowLifeStarts Bwahahahhahahahhahaha

  • You did a very nice job with this video and I enjoyed following your hunt. Thanks for sharing it. Good luck and best wishes from the Heart of Dixie ... Alabama!!!

  • i paid 260 bucks for garret ace 250 and I have found war of 1812 relics and stuff

  • most cool finds are on the old continent...sorry :D

  • I must say, If Minelab could use the simple sound of White's, and the Frequencies of the Minelab, you would then have a good machine....The V3i is the closest thing so far...But how many have $1800 to spend on a detector???

  • should I buy it?????

  • Im glad you shot this video..shows people that not everyday you hunt you hit the big one..takes time!!

  • I just paid $900 for a mxt 300 and all i find is trash too. very dissapointed. i cant believe some one told you congrats on your finds, all you found was pop tabs. I hate being fooled by people like whites. I thought the purpose of a $900 metal detector was to discriminate treasure from trash. anyway the excitement i had when i purchased it went away the first day when i dug up 100 bottle caps, pull tabs and vienna sausage cans. good luck anyway.

  • @luneytunega : ?? You did NOT read the manual for sure. Anyway...good luck on your way.

  • I understand your frustration. Throughout my past hunts, I have found more pop tabs than I care to think about. I used the Whites MXT 300 in the Domenican Republic on the beach. I found coins from all over the world, a watch, earings, a ring and much more. Don't give up, it really is worth it in the end. A bad day of metal detecting is better than a good day at work! Good Luck!

  • You would think that someone who spent 900 dollars on a metal detector would take the time to read the manual and/or watch the instructional dvd's that come with it. THE DISPLAY TELLS YOU ITS A GODDAMN PULLTAP OR SCREWCAP. Buying an expensive metal detector does not mean that relics and coins will magically appear in the ground you are searching. You have to find the right places first.

  • Great video,

Thanks for sharing and good luck in 2010

    Best,

    Chris

  • Thanks Chris. I enjoy watching your videos. They remind me of the time I checked a lady's yard in search of her husbands wedding ring. Her husband had lost it shoveling snow about six years before. I was able to find the ring within minutes. She wrapped it before her husband got home and ended up giving it to him on christmas morning to open up!

  • Stories like that are the reason why I started The Ring Finders Metal Detecting Service...

People should have a second chance! Must have felt great when you found it for her!

    Best,

    Chris

  • Hi. Great vid. Congrats on your finds. Using the MXT myself and had the super 12" coil, too. Sold it. The first add on coil I had was the 6x10DD Eclipse from whites. Every coil I had couldn't beat this. So this is my all day hunting coil. Very sensitive even to small targets nearby.

Anyway. Good job. Keep up the good work.

  • Thanks, I will have more videos up soon!

  • cograts on the finds? shoot i can find pop tabs everywhere and dont need a $900 metal detector

  • I also noticed that you pinpoint in a kinda peculiar way. You should watch the MXT video on Whiteselectronics page here on youtube. Happy Hunting, guy! Rando from Tnet

  • That site is a good candidate for going back with a smaller coil.

  • Yeah your right, at some point I would like to purchase a smaller one for hunting in trashy areas. If pull tabs were like gold coins, I would be a millionaire! Thanks for watching

  • nice vid! Blairwitch project style

    I like it

  • I have that same detector I love it.

  • That looks like a real good spot, I always find tons of trash for each keeper. Did you ever find anything here at this spot worth keeping?

  • Actually, that was the only time I have searched that area and I have not been back to search it again. The problem was at the time, I was more worried about the actual instructional video rather than actually finding some deep coins. I plan to search that area again sometime because I want to dig some of the deeper hits I get.

  • Good try. Don`t stop making video! Good luck in your future hunt.

  • Thanks, my new video should be up soon once I take the copyrighted music off of it. Youtube won't allow it if I don't take the music off.

  • I like that metal detector you have.

  • Me too! Check out whites electronics along with kellyco online.

  • Stick with it ,you will catch on in No time .watch all the vids you can and read :)Good luck and we look forward to your next vid.

  • Thanks! I filmed this video and edited it in March so its been a while and I have learned a lot since then. I just got back from Punta Cana where I went beach detecting with my Dad. We found a ton of coins from all over the world along with a croton watch and a diamond ring!

  • Nice video first time out.

  • Thanks man! Sorry about the poor video quality. Youtube compresses everything.
