@MartinMusicMaker82 yes kind off a strings yes human voice takes some editing cause you can make all the sounds sound like a vowel you recorded that you say
1. Turn on the Power of the microKORG and wait a few seconds for it to boot up. Press and hold the SHIFT key and then press the ARPEGGIATOR ON/OFF key.
2. To select one of the 8 demo songs, press the PROGRAM NUMBER key (1 – 8) that corresponds to the demo song you would like to listen to.
3. To exit the demo song mode, press the SHIFT key again.
@benanderson8 There is no real reason to make a rack mount as it is digital already so they could just use the same modeling software as a DAW plugin.
I would like to experiment with space music (Steve Roach style) ...is this the right machine for that, or is there a another that you would recommend (modest price range only)
this is kind of a stupid question but how do you play the presets on it?? i dont have one yet but i was wondering how do you do it? and if you wanna make more songs do you have to delete the presets?
Oh man! Brings back so many memories!!! I used to get so excited over the trance demo. This was my first "pro" synth back in 2006. I kinda miss it. :(
@TjugoGotoTio - So, are you saying that the Radius engine has better spacey retro sounds then the ms2000?
MInd you...I'm not interested in fm synthi sounds or realistic samples of pianos...I would be purchasing this unit, precisely, to record futuristic sweepy....spacey retro pads and leads on my songs.
@TjugoGotoTio hey!! man i had a microkorg but i had to sell it cause i needed the money..3 years are past and now all the memories came back..this is so weird..i miss these wonderfull times with the microkorg. now i sound sentimental, i know
@novanine9 If you are going for 90es trance/spacesynth sound, definetly the original. More updated rythm/pop, the XL, imho. I've got the Original, I'm not really considering the XL. Also the XL feels very cheap combined to the Original.. Much more.. toy-ish
@TjugoGotoTio WIth the microKORG, you actually can program your own drum sounds, with the drawback being you have to fiddle with the knobs until you get each one just right, which can be rather time-consuming. It's not a drum machine, but don't let that stop you. =)
@MrHankscorpio100 no it doesn't have a drum machine within it, but it is usb keyboard meaning you could use it as a midi controller to run a virtual drum machine off of your computer.
@aj19fleming Some have speakers, but most 'pure' synth keyboards and especially synth modules without keyboards don't have their own speakers, since they're mostly designed to be used in a chain with an amplifier, mixer, rec device etc after it. But most if not all have some basic kind of output, like 1/4" or 1/8" jacks (like any normal mp3 player) which are widely available at just a couple of bucks and can be connected to any amp or speaker set. The Microkorg does NOT have it's own speakers.
Just knocked one of they keys up and its stuck... Anyone know if you can take them off? I don't want to force it back in incase it breaks... Fuck sake.

Group 1: MS-2000, MS-2000r, microKorg ( these synths sound gritty, more retro and phatte than Group 2)
Group 2: Radias, R3, microKorg-XL ( these synths sound cleaner, more modern and versatile than Group 1)
if you already have MS-2000 or microKorg no need to get the others in Group 1 since they are in fact the same synth engine.

Short answer: No.
Sure it does have headphones output that you could use to connect it to the LINE IN on your computer. The MIC IN does not work.
I would not recommend it as a drum machine as it does not have a built in sequencer.
