  • actually it was written by jerry hubbard, and originally performed by the Imperials, a gospel quartet, who performed the best version IMHO.

  • I remember it well ... The background choir only adds to the great mans vocal .

  • Written by the late great Jerry Reed.

  • Danke, bisher kannte ich nur die version von paola, aber an johnny cash kommt natürlich keiner ran

  • Great show! Sounds so much like the original recording! One of my favorites!

  • Well Zach, it IS the original recording!

The amps are off, Marshall, Bob and W.S. had to be "acting" to the music from the recording.

They just removed the singing from the studio record and let Cash sing live over it. A usual technique in the 70s. They did that with Buck Owens, too (Big in Vegas video).

I think the reason they did it ain't because the TN-3 couldn't have played it (of course not!!), but in order to keep the orchestra and the background singers on the appearance :-)

  • One Of My Favorite Songs Of Him ! I Love It !

  • I think it is from Glen Cambell's TV show.

  • Nice song by "the man in black"
