How I love this tune! Sweet memories of Whitfriday in Mossley, Lancashire. The biggest dance craze ever must be 'The Floral Dance' played after the band competition!
I've loved brass bands ever since I used to listen to a programme with my grandfacther back in the 50s & 60s on BBC radio, can anyone remember what it was called?
Absolutely fantastic! I am taking particular notice of the drummer. Can anyone imagine Ringo Starr being able to play the drums like that? He was hopeless. As John Lennon once said: "He isn't even the best drummer in The Beatles!
Nostalgia...I'm Flemish, my dad used to play the cornet in local Brass Band that had a great connection with Derek Broadbent, the conductor of Brighhouse & Rastrick in the 1970's when the Floral Dance was a huge hit. I was lucky enough to witness B & R win the British Championships in the Royal Albert Hall in 1980. My dad passed away 5 years ago...His cornet sits proudly on a shelf in my living room...Memories...
dus je wil gaan kijken naar de fanfares ja, maar alleen op zaterdag, So jy wil die marching bands te kyk, ja, maar net op Saterdag, Så du ønsker at se marchorkestre, ja, men kun om lørdagen Also Sie sehen wollen, Marching Bands, ja, aber nur am Samstag 所以,你要看到,樂隊,是的,但只在星期六
Jaren terug kwam deze brassband en andere Engelse bands in Koudum, de leden gaven op zaterdagavond een show, Ik ging daar vaak heen met mijn vader, heerlijke muziek
The things that made this album special were the choice of material and the engineering and production which was much more upfront than most brass band records where they mike up the band like an orchestra. This had much more separation and deliberate placement of the instruments in the stereo pan plus that very vivid processing.
Hello folks its retrofan1 here This Tune will always be associated with the Brighouse and Rastrick brass Band which then leads to a Life in Military Music The Tune itself dates back to Heleston which is A town in West Cornwall Now in May of Every Year the Heleston Town Band will form up ready to play this Tune as they Lead the Floral Dance through the Town
It was only held off the top spot though by 'Mull Of Kintyre' and spent no less than five weeks at Number Two! It actually sold more copies than hundreds of subsequent Chart toppers! Great stuff!

Truely great, and a very English sound! The uniforms they are wearing are near identical to those worn in the film brassed off.
