Walking through the low desert in 111 degree weather is not a good idea. The only sane time to be in the low desert is late October to March.
And it's not true that there aren't any towns between Blythe & Indio. Desert Center/Lake Tamarisk is a small town half way between them with a few hundred people.
Also, technically, this area is not a part of the Mojave Desert. It's called the Colorado Desert, though some geographers lump it together with the Sonoran Desert to the east in Arizona.
I am SO into this! Still with you my friend! I hope you're still getting notifications about comments left on your YT videos. (That is what they do to let you know when you have a new comment, isn't it?!)......PLEASE reply to me if you get this.
I'll be making this trip in a few years, though from west to east. Let me tell you, man, you're a role model of mine.
