May I just say for all those who insist that Castlevania Lords of Shadow is a ripoff of God of War, please note that God of War is a ripoff of Spartan Total Warrior. But you know what, whining about it is as stupid as complaining that fps games like Battlefield 3 are a ripoff of every single god-damn fps that came before it. On another note, I am so in love with LOS because it saved the franchise from the completely fucking gay direction it was going on the PS2.

They were charged with making a new CV, but Konami was squeamish about giving them the license initially....so in the beginning it was developed as an original IP. Once the Konami bigwigs saw how kickass the game was going to be, they lifted their hesitations and allowed it to become part of the franchise. So it was developed from day 1 as a CV title, it was just produced a bit "undercover" for a while.

This game is going to be legendary! You can compare it to God of War, Devil May Cry, and others, but Castlevania's history goes way back. Castlevania pioneered the way for those games. The cross whip of his is the weapon you start with. In the castlevania games I've played that have had the Vampire Killer whip, you don't start with it (don't know about all of them). So again, its still possible that it's in the game. As for Soma, this game could well take place after the GBA and DS games with Cruz. If Soma managed to end the Dracula legacy, which I think was his goal, then there'd be no more dracula.

The reason that whip is not the Vampire Killer is because this game takes place in 1046, long before that whip made(which was made in 1094), and this game's 'Dracula' isn't the same Dracula we know, though it could be what inspired Mathias Cronqvist to take the name years later when he became a vampire. For all we know, Gabirel has no knowledge of this Dracula's existence. And yes, it's been proven Gabriel is a Belmont.
