i love this show, but that's the dumbest ending i've ever seen. it wasn't even dramatic at all. Ryan just stares at her while she dies...he doesn't try to get help or call 911 from one of the million cell phones that always seem to be around in this show...he just calmly watches her die...it's so ridiculous.

Just finished season 3 yesterday. Wow. I didn't cry, but I still feel depressed today. Marissa is by far the most interesting character and the one most easy to relate to, and it is just so sad that this downward spiral she has been on since season 1, ultimately led to her death. This scene was done so well, unlike so many other shows and, other than the death of Q in One Tree Hill, it is one of the saddest moments in TV.

The secont flashback is from the pilot, after they all go over to Hollys house and get realy realy drunk, she pass's out. Ryan is taking her to the pool house.

I'm a full on OC fan. One of the biggest I saw every season like 3 times, but i have to addmit that marissa on season 3 just wasnt the same. I still liked her, but it got boring. And i think killing her was a good story plot. Tragic but that was always the OC. It was way better than moving her away or even keep writing things for her even thought it wasnt working. I liked this ending. Marissas life was always about the drama, this was a sad but kind of perfect way to end it.

I mean, they got over her in like 3 episodes & then barely mentioned her again, & they had nothing about her and Ryan even in the series finale, besides that little flashback but it was so small. & they replaced her with Taylor so QUICKLY. I think her death was what made the show & the couple so epic, but it should've ended there (with a few episodes after showing the characters

So I decided to check out this scene for my self. This was very sad, but I think he could have done better acting. This was not very believable for me at all.

If you are referring to the Ryan character, the acting was actually very good. He remained in character the entire time during this scene. Don't judge acting unless you understand the characters. Ryan is a very complex character. Breaking down and crying like a baby would have been unrealistic for that character.

It's easy for someone to say they would have stopped the car, but the truth is, when the pressure is on and you lose control of your emotions in a crisis, you make irrational decisions. Also, if he stopped driving, they still would have had a bad accident based on physics. Just so you know.
