Now that I'm olding I understand the joke about how the Solomons are recreating like a Communist country in their house. I'm 20 years old now but I didn't understand that joke when I was watching this how back in the 4th grade.
if someone i didn't know touched me and then told me what to do i'd curse them out. some people can't sing it, like my friend, a jehovah's witness, isn't allowed to sing the anthem. whose business is it that she doesn't?
Wow I watched this show all time when I was in 5th grade. I'm in college now and now I understand the jokes better. Like how they're all dressed alike and being too EQUAL is like communism.
It's almost impossible to believe that the Soloman's spent 5 previous seasons in the USA without encountering the US national anthem. Great episode though!
So, if I've got the continuity of this series correct, Mary's from an Irish family that was inexplicably among the Mayflower Pilgrims, a group of xenophobic English puritan seperatists who likely would have been in favour of hurling any Catholics (Irish) overboard?
really? I had no idea until I saw an episode with his name in the credit and then looked it up. I just love the show. thanks for posting the episodes.
HAHAHA...i remember seeing this ep on TV back when 3rd rock came on WB 17 in the afternoon...good times, good times...and a good commentary on Communism for a comedy show o_O
This episode is more important than ever now that America is in danger of losing it's #1 spot to countries like Brazil, Russia, India and China. Hopefully, Obama and Biden will give the USA a strong lead again, with help from Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea and Thailand, of course. (^_^) y
yeahs sure...by bullying, killing and brainwashing countless number of native people....we took their land and make it our own, that how we are "blessed" to have been born here ~_~
Oh, please. Don't get all self-righteous. Don't tell me you're one of those imbeciles that blames modern-day America for the transgressions of its ancestors. I don't condone what they did, but every civilization has MASSIVE black marks on its record. No one culture is innocent. For example, the European colonization of Africa permanently screwed over their governments and caused so much civil war with their division of land that they eventually abandoned without a second thought.
Well I'm black, I do somewhat agree with you.I was born in canada, my great grandparents were the first generation here.I went to high school in Europe, and moved to the USA after. While I feel this is a great country, alot of the people that live here are not. They are self righteous, ignorant, un-patriotic,racist, condoscending, selfish, douchebags. This is a diverse country, we should be united together, but we aren't.We hate each other, we care only about ourselves.
I love my country, I do, but our justice system needs work...men who sodomize children get only a few months in prison to a couple years and end up released before their sentence is over...murderers get off on technicalities, or people who commit terrible crimes are parolled or released on "Good behavior"...every system has its flaws but some of these are just a slap in the face to victims. This country has a lot of freedoms, but most times people just don't know how to act...
I've lived in the U.S. all my life and I think while some attributes of the country are nice, it certainly hasn't earned the blind patriotism some people give it.
At the same time, however, it's too bad that Americans in general are badgered for the faults of its government and some loud-mouthed stereotypes.
Heavy-handedness aside, I love the "declare independence from our pants" bit :-)
well, my school does the pledge of allegiance, so its understandable that tommy and the family dont know the anthem, and after all, their supposed to be at least slightly oblivious to things the know,
the wave is priceless. thanks for uploading these!
I think it's funny how they covered patriotism a decade ago; now it wouldn't be unreasonable for an American to rate their country a 7 or 8 without anyone disagreeing (not that it isn't a great country, but we all know it has slipped to a 7 or 8... we need to make it a 10 again).
I guess it's all relative to how you look at it, yes. It's not just political though: economically, intellectually, and pride in general to name a few are losing points by the decade; personal liberties, overall social attitude, and the people themselves I'd give a solid 10. It also varies from person to person: a great many of us have been so focused on the political that we feel America has been slipping (and I hope you guys understand if we get McCain that it's wisest to move to Canada ;P).
Yeah, it has its perks and it has its problems but hey, it could be worst. Could be like a Communist state, which has great ideas, but when done is usually terrible results.

Saying the pledge and singing the anthem with such gusto and pride.
