I was a deputy sheriff assigned to patrol in that area 1999-2000. Although deputies largely avoided that area due to the lack of calls for service, I would still venture out once in awhile to check out the phone booth and other odd happenings in the beautiful desert. I was very likely working when you filmed this. Ahhh, good times. The Mojave Phone Booth was one of the first internet memes I can personally recall and it was so cool to be able to go see it. Great video and thanks for uploading.
It's stuff like this that make love the U.S and it's people. You only find weird stuff like this there. If that boith would still be around I would surely call from where I live (in Québec)
I wondered if the light worked. I would like to have seen the booth but am 11 years too late. Never knew it existed until Glenn Beck used it in The Overton Window.
Thanks for sharing a piece of history. Amazing that this now gone phone booth actually inspired the creation of a Hollywood movie (titled "Mojave Phone Booth").
THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting this video. Ive called the phone booth, no one answered. The last time I called was just before it was removed, no one answered, but the next time I called, it was disconnected and gone :(
I wish I had a chance to talk, or visit the booth. Oh well. One day something else will come along just as unique and strange.

Wow. It's awesome that you went out there. The booth was so cool. I used to call when I was about 14. It was cool to just connect with random people.

have you tried omegle?

Yes, I have! Certainly not as cool as the booth with all the spam and people who just troll, but I've had a few interesting convos on there :D
