@Yashagoro Btw, is it not possible to type the duration as a date, instead of number of days? I mean, Start date and Finish date, for example. I think it's troublesome having to count how many days you're going to keep on with a task, so it would be easier to just type the date. I'm trying but I can't seem to make it work. Do you know if it's possible?
@Yashagoro I'm not sure to be honest but if you put the start date in a colum on a different page and drag the little corner box down until you get the end date then you will have the number of days in the numbers at the side. You could also use the =Count(Ax:Ay) formula to count a number of dates you selected from the timeline of your whole project. Not quite as handy but it might do the job
@rorkimaru Thanks for the suggestions, I found a formula though that counts the number of days between two dates, =Days(A2;A1). I just had to write the start and finish dates and then that formula would give me the number. :)
Thanks for putting this together. I wanted to learn to turn spreadsheet data into charts to put together a reading list scheduler, and this has been a big help.
Thank you so very much! I am in a Marketing class at a private college and so I am spending all my income on tuition and not on Excel so I have instead Open Office. I have been completely unable to find any sort of tutorial for the Gantt Chart that I have been given two days to make with no prior experience and no knowledge of how to work in Open Office. Your tutorial has helped me so very much. I greatly appreciate you taking the time to create it. I would love to see more tutorials. :)
Thank you so much! I just did my first Gantt Chart thanks to you. One question though: I'd love to have multiple points in the "Task 1" category (it's a task that has to be done several times over the course of the project). However, with your method, I cannot seem to do that, I can only have one line per task. Is there any way to have multiple lines per task? Am I making any sense? ;)
@blackfoxt I'm sure you could do it by having a few extra columns in your spread sheet. Have a duration for the gap between tasks and then for each of the occurances and then make the gap bars invisible like you did the first blue bars.
hi this video was really helpful. Although I don't agree with a previous post about discarding the power point slides, I found them really useful! Cheers
@Savatore83 I recorded the video at full resolution so it's as clear as I can think how to make it. If you watch the video in 720p full screen it should hopefully be fairly easy to see what I'm doing. Sorry about the speed thing, I just didn't want to make the video too long.
Thanks for the vid. It would have been easier to follow if you didn't use the powerpoint pages and just explained what you were doing as you did it. But very helpful nonetheless.
@iwatamei26 Thanks for the constructive criticism. It'll help me if I am making another one of these. What I wanted to do was say what I was going to do and have it written and then show it being done because I though that might be a bit clearer & a bit more constructed than a simple follow along video which can be bad.
You're right though, it would be more helpful to say what I'm doing as I do it too (maybe as well as text cues?) I just wanted to make it as clear and easy to follow as I could
This was so useful, you sir are a legend!
