  • oooh ich liebe bartók ohnehin... was für eine wundervoll kraftvolle interpretation! balsam für die ohren

  • Do I spy Ori Kam in the viola section???!! Did not know he was in the Berlin Phil. -- Awesome!

  • We refer to the string section as strings. Sometimes 'strings' can mean string orchestra just not so accurate.

    Btw, Guy rocks!

  • I love this.

However, I still don't understand the conductor. No one ever looks at him. He just annoys me, yes I know that he probably is indeed vital, and No I am not myself in any kind of orchestra, so I don't truly understand, but he still annoys me.

  • @lasicnotemo Don't try understanding how conductors work.You will get nowhere. :P

  • is a string orchestra the same as just saying "strings"? Anyone?

  • Listen to the way he pulls on the brakes slightly at 52-53; brilliant.

  • Nothing beats a great string orchestra, absolutely brilliant!

  • STIRRING!

  • outstanding!!!!!!!!!

spot-on pacing, emotional depth, and finally, the sound of real joy!!!!

  • Of cause the Berlin Phil play Bartok's Divertimento so brilliant and powerful as if they were born with the music. It's also a special pleasure to hear - and watch - Daniel Harding conduct this orchestra. He really is an outstandingly talented young British conductor. Last month I heard him conduct Sweden's Radio Symphony Orchestra in Gustav Mahlers First Symphony, and again we had a great and triumphant experience. - More Harding, thank you.

  • Hm...has anyone else noticed that Braunstein often doesn't hold down on the chin rest with his chin, but holds the violin with his arm?

  • does anybody know the name of the concertmaster?

  • @BBRENTTAGHAPP It is Guy Braunstein, 1st Konzertmeister since 2000.

  • Is Guy the "first first" Konzertmeister?

  • for this music his is the best!

  • I sometimes wonder if the conductor's movements are on purpose or if he's just having an imaginary sword fight. Either way he's fantastic.

  • Your statement exposes a profound ignorance.

  • @kehwa Your statement exposes a deep void in place of your sense of humor.

  • That ignorance, as expected, goes further than one level.

  • Congratulations. Once again the void gets deeper and deeper as you belittle me about a joke that clearly went over your head. I figured it to be quite obvious that the conductor's movements had precise meanings and that one would be able to see the irony and humor in my comment. Sadly, I was mistaken.

  • It's not funny. It never was. Leave the jokes from Fantasia alone.

  • I'm sorry my humor isn't sophisticated enough for you.

  • haha its kind of like how soloists make faces/a lot of motion without realizing it. they just get into it :)

  • ¡¡¡Fantástico :O!!!

  • What a powerful and energetic performance! Great stuff!

  • bueno parece que Bartok no es la especialidad de la Berliner..

  • explicate?

  • Bueno meparece una interpretación muy anticuada, suena a algo romántico. He escuchado mejores interpretaciones de esto.

  • sehr wild danke
