how to change a ram in toshiba satelite 220 csd? i mean to remove the build-in 16MB RAM, because i want to change it to 128 MB RAM. i insert it my 128 MB RAM to the RAM slot, but the system doesn't detect it. any solution?
@neutronz14 ehm yes. the old toshibas always need edo-sodimms, which were programmed to be dedected from the toshiba's bios. there are some 64mb edo sodimms at ebay, 144pin, but don't try to use a sd-sodimm, the voltage is not the same, and it could hurt your notebook. 128mb edo for toshibas are very very rare and can cost up to 150 euros/dollars
I've got 220CS with 144MB RAM and I'm working WinXP Pro at default settings. it starts in just 3 minutes or 45 seconds while hibernated. No hardware incompatiblity.
VERY fast computer, I think it can play Crysis on high with lowest shadows and low resolution. The Pentium 1 133mhz. The 32Mb of RAM is huge and allows it to run 100's of programs at the same time.
The fucking huge 1.2gb hard drive can hold every game on the market. The SVGA graphic card allows it to render textures in crysis SUPER fast this computer is great guyzz!
Indeed - older PCs aren't surely for museums, you can still learn some things even on old hardware. But of course, software and hardware are probably outdated but you can still rely and learn some things. Knowledge is good. My p133 is still working after these all years (since 1996 to be correct) and I am proud to have that PC in my house.
@crogeek Just like I have an old gateway pc in my place that still has a P1 processor at 200mhz and 64mb of ram and actually still has Windows 95 and was manufactured in May of 1998 right before Windows 98 came out. I even still use it to run old games and programs I been having since 1997 or 98.
@crogeek I can even hook up my network cable to it to access the internet even though I can't use fancy features of the internet because of the OS and IP being too old, but it even still brings back memories when I used a computer back in 1997-98 and thats whats valuable to me about old pcs.
Hi are you going to sell that amazing laptop that one has better programs and is very fast with Windows 95 fyi do I have to buy a different wireless network card because mine is designed for Windows 98 SE
i got this toshiba back in 1995 cost me £1.400 had a external floppy drive that could be swapped over for the cd rom drive had a tft screen win95 8 meg of ram 1.4 gig hard drive was a great laptop now have the hp dragon 20 inch great pc
ur lucky. all of my ones (and ive had alot of them) had hdd problems. some after 6 days, some after 6 months but trust me some time or another they will brake. roght now I have a compaq armada 4120t and the g,h, and backspace keys don't work and the dial up won't work. my advice is get a desktop.
Why lucky? i wrote that they didnot work,thay had all some problems.
I bought them in a french auction for 35 euro about 4 years ago.
I don't own them anymore today,as i sold all of them (except an IPC laptop with an intel 486 processor that i kept) on EBAY for 9 to 10 euro each last year
yea the 220cs pentium 133 with the dual scan screen instead of the more expensive cdt models with tft screens. you could run xp on this laptop if you upgraded the memory to the maximum 144mb. memory slot is under the wrist rest area and pop in a 128mb edo chip available from time to time on e-bay. built like tanks and made to last.
Put the laptop on ebay. The prices that people put second hand laptops on sale for is shockigly high. You would probably get £70 for that on ebay even though the performance by even the last 5 years standards it very very weak. Get yourself a nice new laptop, and don't waste money on ancient laptops.
hello, I have the same laptop, it was given to me a few days ago, however I am unable to get pass the BIOS password do you have any ideas how i could bye pass the password,or is there a master password I could use, thanks for your time regarding this matter.Dave

Use Tiny Xp, Beast Edition. I use it and it boots in 1min 45 segs. ;)
I am not kidding, I use laptop pentium 1 133mhz, with 64 mbs ram, 2mbs graphic card to:
-> Work in office documents;
-> Listen to music;
-> Watch movies (convert them to mpeg1);
-> Surf the internet (using wireless network);
TinyXP is the best! ;)
And I will tell you, if It had a cpu of 233 MMX and a graphics of 8mbs, I would do a lot more! It's al in the details ;)
