Why do the engines make less noise at full power than at idle?

@prostosimple It's not the engines... I think when the aircraft is taxiing a "mini" jet engine, the APU, powers most of the aircraft's systems. Once the jet engines spool up, the APU becomes redundant and shuts off... leaving the jet engines to power the plane. It also probably has to do with pitch change. From my flights on the 767, it's not any quieter before/after takeoff. It's just a different sound.

@prostosimple It may also by an impression caused by the camera, that supresses louder noises, so it seems that it goes quieter when in takeoff power :)

have you tried touching the window when the plane's in cruise altitude? i heard that the 787 got rid of the plastic covering the glass one. and by the way, that's the biggest plane window i've ever seen!

@DA20c1flyboy The range it fly depends on how big the plane is while Airbus make it the same regardless the size of the plane. Besides, Airbus hasn't started to selling yet, how can you tell who is better. Back in 1988 people believe Boeing 767 is better than Airbus A330, however, the market shows the opposite after few years.
